6、SO 7079:1981 “Core drills with parallel shanks and with Morse taper shanks” published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The only significant change to the ISO text is in the symbols used for the lengths of the drills; ISO7079uses l for the overall length and l 1for the flu

7、te length while, to maintain conformity with the other Parts of BS 328, this part uses L and l. For ease of reproduction the text of the International Standard has been used for this British Standard. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards; at

8、tention is drawn especially to the following. The comma has been used as a decimal marker. In British Standards it is current practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker. Cross-reference. There is no British Standard corresponding exactly to ISO296:1974, to which reference is

9、made in the text (and see clause 2). For the purposes of this standard the British Standard corresponding to ISO 296 is BS1660, “Machine tapers, reduction sleeves and extension sockets”. For an explanation of the ISO system of limits and fits, including the meaning of the symbol h8 (see the tables i

It includes two tables for each of the above specified types,

13、giving respectively: the dimensions for the preferred diameters and the corresponding lengths defined in terms of diameter ranges. The tables show only metric dimensions which are alone recommended in the future for this type of drill. Unless otherwise stated, these drills will be right-hand cutting
