The mounting dimensions specified are related not in any way to the size or power of the engines concerned, but to the flywheel hous

15、ings, some dimensions of which are specified in BS3092, “Dimensions of main friction clutches, main power-take-off assemblies, and associated attachments for i.c.engines”. The BritishStandard pad numbers allocated to the range of pad sizes inTable 1 of this standard are related to the flywheel housi

16、ng code numbers ofBS3092, Table17, and, although it is generally intended that pads should be used on flywheel housings with matching code numerals, pads of a given size maybe matched with housings with larger code numerals (i.e.smaller sizes.) However, in respect of the recommended use of these pad

17、s in engine locations other than flywheel housings (Clause5), it is left to engine designers in cooperation with engine purchasers or manufacturers of overall installations to select from the data specified in this standard which form and size of mountings shall be applied to any particular engine.

18、The standard is based on SAE practice for mounting pads set out in the SAE Handbook(1960) and consists of the following sections: Section1, “Flywheel housing mounting pads”, which gives dimensions of flywheel housing mounting pads; and Section2, “Engine mounting brackets”, which gives dimensions of

19、brackets for attachment to the pads specified in Section1, for bearer mounted type engines only. Such differences as exist between the present standard and the information contained in the SAE Handbook(1960) are to permit a range of pads having a sizeprogression. NOTEWhere metric equivalents are sta

20、ted (see Table 1M) the figures in British units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric conversions are approximate. More accurate conversions should be based on BS350, “Conversion factors and tables”. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract.

21、Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. It also specifies diameters and loca

Section2 of this standard specifies certain dimensions of brackets designatedB1,B2 andB3, which, when secured to the mounting pads specified in Section1, Clauses2 and3, form engine support arms. It is recommended that if these brackets can be used with

When aluminium alloy flywheel ho

29、 b) “High” pads shall be above the horizontal centre line by a distance such that the dimensionD from the centre line to the lower tapped holes shall be as specified in Figure 1 andColumn6, Table 1. c) “Low” pads shall be below the horizontal centre line by a distance such that the dimensions D from
