、all comprise:a) a stainless steel pole with either two or four hooks for carrying the infusion containers as illustrated in Figure 2 or Figure 3;b) a tubular column (which may be of steel or stainless steel) to support the pole;c) a base.3.2 Welding3.2.1Welding shall comply with the requirements of

、BS 5135 or BS 3019-2, as appropriate.3.2.2 Stainless steel tube shall be either inert-gas arc welded or resistance welded. For inert-gas arc welding the filler rod shall comply with type 347596specified in Table 1 of BS2901-2:1970.3.2.3 There shall be complete fusion of metal for all welded joints.

、Sufficient welding metal shall be applied to allow for subsequent dressing smooth all over, without weakening the joint. There shall be no sharp edges and no crevices which may harbour dirt or foreign matter.4 Materials and dimensions4.1 The pole for carrying infusion containers shall be of bright d

、ons) not less than 8mm in diameter, as shown in Figure 2.4.3 The tubular column which supports the pole shall be either steel or stainless steel having a minimum outside diameter of30mm and a minimum thickness of 1.6 mm.4.4 If steel tubing is used it shall comply with the requirements for any of the

、 types and grades described in BS 1775 ERW and stainless steel shall comply with the requirements of BS3014:1958(grade1).4.5 The base for mobile infusion stands shall be of a material suitable for the service for which the equipment is intended and shall have a durability at least equal to that of t

、he materials specified in 4.3 .The material used shall comply with the requirements of any relevant British Standards. If iron castings are used they shall comply with the requirements of BS 309 or of BS 310.5 Range of heightsThe range of heights, measured from the floor to the effective suspension

、points of the hook bars shall be 1.75m minimum to2.75 m maximum.6 Pole for infusion containers6.1 Each stand shall be provided with a detachable pole as shown in Figure 2 for carrying two infusion containers, but at the option of the purchaser provision may be made for four containers, as shown in F

、igure 3.6.2The overall length of the pole for mobile infusion stands will depend upon the design of base employed. Any pole shall however be long enough to ensure that, if the pole were accidentally released, the fingers could not be trapped between the hook bar and the top of the column. The lower1

、00mm of the pole shall be permanently marked to illustrate the maximum height of adjustment.6.3 The top shall be in the form of a horizontally mounted bar or bars formed to a hook at each end and welded at the mid-point to the top of the pole. The effective suspension points of the hooks shall be as

、 shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3.7 Tubular column7.1 The column shall be bossed at its upper end so as to maintain the pole vertical at all heights. The clearance between the pole and the boss shall not exceed 0.5 mm.7.2 Internally the column shall be provided at its lower end with a silencing device

、tive locking. The grip shall be transmitted without scoring or otherwise damaging the surface of the pole. If a screw type locking device is used the thread shall be8mm 1.25 mm pitch, complying with the requirements of BS 3643.8 Base8.1 The dimension from the vertical centre line of the infusion pol

、e to the centre line of the castor vertical pivot shall be between 205 mmand 255mm.8.2The overall width of the base, measured through its vertical centre line, shall not exceed 660mm.8.3The base shall maintain the column in a vertical position.8.4 Mobile infusion stands may be made suitable for dism

、antling (knockdown) for ease of transport, but if the tubular column is detachable from the base, it shall be secure when located in position.NOTE The design of the base has not been specified but the purchaser might wish to consider the geometry of the base best suitedtohisrequirements.9 Castors9.1

、 Each stand shall be fitted with castors complying with the requirements of BS 2099-1.They shall be not less than 50mm diameter.9.2 The castor tyres shall be of antistatic rubber composition, and when tested using the procedure given in A.4.11 of BS 2050:1978, both readings shall fall below 104 7 .1

、0 StabilityThe design and weight of the stand shall be such that it remains stable when tested by the method described in Appendix A.NOTE It is essential that care be taken to ensure that if ancillary equipment is attached the stability of the stand is not impaired.11 Finish11.1 Completed stand. The

、 completed stand shall be free from sharp edges and corners.11.2 Tubular column and base11.2.1 If of steel, the base and the tubular column shall be finished with a good quality stoving enamel or an epoxide based enamel or powder.Prior to applying the finish, all rust, grease, scale or surface adhes

、ions of a like nature shall be removed and all welds shall be properly dressed and cleaned up and the surface given a coat of inhibitive primer.11.2.2 The finishing coat shall be stoved strictly in accordance with the paint manufacturers stoving schedule and shall provide a dry film thickness of not

、 less than 0.025mm. The finish shall be smooth, free from dust, runs and any other such defects.NOTE It is important that the stand should be stoved before castors are fitted. Holes to receive screws should be reamed orre-tapped after stoving to remove any enamel or other insulating material from th

、e hole. The importance of this procedure is stressed since the conductive qualities of the castors could be destroyed by an insulating coating.11.3 Performance tests. The finish shall comply with the requirements of 11.3.1 to 11.3.4.11.3.1 Resistance to bend effects. The finish on the test panel sha

、ll withstand bending over a12 mmdiameter mandrel without cracking or loss of adhesion when tested in accordance withBS 3900-E1 using a steel panel and the type 2apparatus.11.3.2 Scratch resistance. The finish on the test panel shall not be penetrated when tested in accordance with BS 3900-E2 using a

、 needle load of 3000 g.11.3.3 Impact resistance. The finish on the test panel shall not rupture when tested in accordance with BS 3900-E3 at an indentation depth of3mm.11.3.4 Resistance to cupping effect. The finish of the test panel shall not crack or become detached from the metal substrate when t
