8、he method of test described below requires to be completed, for any particular application, by the following supplementary information. This information is to be derived from the British Standard or other specification for the product under test or, where appropriate, is to be the subject of agreeme

10、 system. 4) Duration and conditions of drying of the coated panel (or conditions of stoving and ageing, if applicable) before testing. 5) The test requirements the material has to meet, including the inclination from the vertical of the arms of the test apparatus. 3 Apparatus The apparatus, as illus

11、trated in Figure 1 and Figure 2, consists of two arms, to the ends of which coated steel test pieces are attached. The arms of the apparatus are free to swing in a vertical plane and the test pieces are so fixed that, when the arms are released, the test pieces strike each other at right angles with

12、 a single blow, after which they slide over each other before parting. The apparatus is arranged so that test piece A makes an angle of not more than180 with the line of the outer side of the arm which supports it and this arm is fitted with a ratchet device to ensure that the test pieces do not mak

The mass of the outer arm (excluding the test piece) of the apparatus is3.7 0.1kg, the length is1 0.002m and the centre of gravity is5005mm from the centre of the top bush. The mass of the inner arm (excluding the test piece) is4.5 0.1kg, the length is870 2

14、mm and the centre of gravity is560 5mm from the centre of the top bush. The test pieces shall be arranged so that they strike each other midway along their lengths. 4 Sampling A representative sample of the product to be tested (or of each product in the case of a multicoat system) shall be taken as

15、 described in BS3900-A1 2) . The sample(s) shall then be examined and prepared for testing as described in BS3900-A2 3) . 5 Test pieces 5.1 Material and dimensions. Unless otherwise specified or agreed, the test pieces shall be made of burnished steel tubing complying with BS980, CDS10 4) , in the “

Unless otherwise specified, the test pieces shall be burnished with silicon carbide paper Grade220 (see BS872 5) ) and th

They shall then be coated with the product or system under test by a method agreed between the interested parties (see clause 2). 5.3 Drying the test piece. The coated test pieces shall

18、 be dried (or stoved and aged) for the specified time and under the specified conditions and, unless otherwise specified, shall be conditioned at a temperature of23 2 C and a relative humidity of505% for a minimum of16h. The test procedure shall then be carried out without delay. 5.4 Thickness of co

The thickness, in micrometres, of the dry coating shall be determined by the method specified, using one of the procedures in BS3900-C5. 1) 1) BS3900-C5 “Determination of film thickness”. 2) BS3900-A1 “Sampling”. 3) BS3900-A2 “Examination and preparation of samples for testing”. 4) BS980 “Ste

Release the arms. 6

21、.2 Remove the test pieces and examine the points of impact for loss of adhesion or removal of the coating. NOTEThe test pieces may be used more than once, provided that the points of impact are well separated from those of previous tests. The test pieces may be skimmed in a lathe to remove indentati
