25、 machined. The rest of the surface shall be left blank but theshackles shall be cleaned so as to be free of all die marks.6 Freedom from defectsThe stampings shall be free from visible defects such as laps, cracks or seams.Machined areas shall be free of black scale.7 Heat treatmentThe stampings sha
26、ll be heat treated to comply with the tests specified inClause 10.The test samples, prepared as specified in Clause 9, shall be heat treated with,and in the same manner as, the stampings they represent.8 Protective finishAll parts shall be uniformly coated with cadmium in accordance withDef-Stan 03-
27、19 or BS EN 2133.CAUTION BS SP 1 shackles have cadmium as a plating material which hasbeen restricted and/or banned for use in many countries owing toenvironmental and health concerns; they should not be used in new productdesigns. Local officials should be consulted about any concerns on usingcadmi
28、um plated parts.9 Selection and preparation of mechanical testsamplesOne test sample shall be provided with each batch of 50 or fewer stampingswhich are heat treated together. The test sample shall be cut from the materialfrom which the stampings were made, and shall be of sufficient length to allow
29、one BS tensile test piece (Figure 2) to be prepared. The test sample shall be heattreated in accordance with Clause 7 and tested as specified in Clause 10.Two stampings shall be selected by the inspector from each of the abovementioned parcels of 50 stampings after heat treatment for testing as spec
30、ifiedin Clause 11.10 Tests on sample barsSample bars, representing the stampings that are to be provided shall, afterheat treatment in accordance with Clause 7, conform to the followingmechanical tests, which shall be carried out to the satisfaction of the inspectorpresent.Test pieces from the sampl

Theload of 3000 kg shall not be exceeded even momentari
33、ly, and shall bemaintained for not less than 15 sec. Prior to testing, the skin of the sample shallbe removed by filing, grinding or machining the areas to be tested. Thediameter of the impression shall be measured to the nearest 0.05 mm.NOTE The Brinell Hardness determination for small bars should

One of
36、the shackles shall be tested in tension todestruction and shall have an ultimate tensile strength not less than thatspecified in Table 1. The load shall be applied through a pin in the bossesand a cable at the loop end.b) Bend test. The bosses of the remaining shackle shall be bent away fromeach oth
37、er, through 90, so that the inner faces of the bosses are in-linewith each other in the same plane. 38、titution 2015 512 MarkingPrior to the application of the protective finish, each shackle shall be marked onthe external machined face with the British Standard identifier and part number(in accordance with Table 1). For example, SP1-690A is a 5/32 shackle. Allaccepted shackles shall be marked in clo
39、se proximity to the British Standardidentifier and part number with the identification mark of the inspector.
