、 under the direction of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee and forms part of the revision of the 1967 edition. It is one of a series of specifications, of which the full list is as follows. Part 1: Specification for hexagon socket head cap screws; Part 2: Specification for hexagon socket
、 set screws with flat point; Part 3: Specification for hexagon socket set screws with cone point; Part 4: Specification for hexagon socket set screws with dog point; Part 5: Specification for hexagon socket set screws with cup point; Part 6: Specification for hexagon socket button head screws; Part
、7: Specification for hexagon socket shoulder screws 1) ; Part 8: Specification for hexagon socket countersunk head screws 1) ; Part 9: Wrench keys 1) . This Part of this standard is based on a draft standard, prepared by ISO/TC2“Fasteners”. Although the tolerances on some features differ from those
、specified in the 1967 edition, screws complying with this standard are generally interchangeable with screws manufactured to the 1967 edition. If, in special cases, requirements other than those listed in this standard are necessary, it is recommended that they should be selected from the standards
、referred to in clause4. This standard has been drafted to be consistent with other Parts in the series which themselves have reproduced tables and figures from the equivalent ISO standards. Certain conventions are therefore not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is especially
、drawn to the following. The comma has been used throughout as a decimal marker. In British Standards it is current practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards
、 are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal obligations. Summary of pages This document comprises a front cover, an inside front cover, pagesi andii, pages1 to4, an inside back cover and a back cover. This standard

This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover. 1) In course of preparation.BS4168-6:1982 BSI 07-1999 1 1 Scope This Part of this British Standard specifies requirements for hexagon socket button
、 head screws with ISO metric threads and diameters from3mm up to and including 16mm. NOTEParticular attention is drawn to the note in clause 4 concerning the limitation on tensile strength. 2 References The titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover.
