This will be indicated in the amendment table on the inside front cover.BS4268:1967 BSI 02-2000 1 1 Scope This BritishStandard applies to the wooden hatchway covers of ships, and specifies the m

9、arkings required in order to indicate the deck in which the hatchway is situated, the position of the hatchway in the deck, and the section of the hatchway of which the cover forms a part. 2 General Each wooden hatchway cover carries the following markings intended to locate: 1) the deck in which th

10、e hatchway to be covered is situated, 2) the position of the hatchway in the deck concerned, 3) the section of the hatchway of which the cover forms part. 3 Location of deck The location of the deck is indicated by the colour of the transverse lines used for identifying the sections of the hatchway

11、(see Clause5). Assuming the decks to be numbered consecutively from the top downwards, the following colours are used: for the upper deck or first deck: red, for the second deck: white, for the third deck: black. If there are more than three decks, additional colours may be used. 4 Position of hatch

12、way The position of the hatchway in a given deck is indicated by a roman figure painted on each hatchway cover corresponding to that hatchway. Assuming the hatchways in one deck to be numbered consecutively from fore to aft, the roman figures are used for the marking as follows: for the cover of the

13、 forward, or first, hatchway:I of the second hatchway:II and so on. The roman figures are150mm high. Only white paint should be used. 5 Identification of hatchway sections The sections of the hatchway of which the covers form part are marked with appropriate numbers of transverse straight lines, ext

14、ending from one side of the hatchway to the other, and painted on all the hatchway covers of one section. Assuming the different sections of the hatchway to be numbered consecutively from fore to aft, the hatchway covers are marked as follows: first section: one line second section: two lines and so

15、 on. The lines are40mm wide, with intervals of75mm. All the lines are of the same colour as the identification colour of the deck concerned (seeClause3). If there are more than four lines, a space of300mm is left between the fourth and fifth line. Corner covers situated at each hatchway are speciall

16、y marked with two lines at right angles, asshown in the figure. 6 Example of application Figure 1 shows the marking of covers of hatchwayII of one of the decks.BS4268:1967 2 BSI 02-2000 NOTEIt is recommended that, where possible, the hatchway beams should be equally spaced. The correct spacing of th

17、e beams is then found by dividing into equal parts the total length of the hatchway, taking into account the part of the covers supported forward and aft. In this case, the hatchway covers, being of the same length, need only have one transverse line of the colour used for identifying the deck conce
