The principal difference be

The text of the International Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as a British Standard without deviation. Some terminology and certain conventio

8、ns are not identical with those used in British Standards; attention is drawn especially to the following. The comma has been used as a decimal marker. In British Standards it is current practice to use a full point on the baseline as the decimal marker. The symbol “ml” has been used for millilitre.

9、 In British Standards it is current practice to use the symbol “mL”. Wherever the words “International Standard” appear, referring to this standard, they should be read as “British Standard”. Additional information. With reference to clause6, water complying with grade3 of BS3978 “Specification for

10、water for laboratory use” is suitable. Attention is drawn to the related British Standard BS4699:1985 “Methods for determination of density or relative density of petroleum and petroleum products (pyknometer methods)”, which is identical with ISO3838:1983 “Crude petroleum and liquid or solid petrole

11、um products Determination of density or relative density Capillary-stoppered pyknometer and graduated bicapillary pyknometer methods”. BS4699 provides for the determination of density at various temperatures and for more precise values; precision data are included. NOTETextual error. In the footnote

12、 to clause7, “atmopheric” should be read as “atmospheric”. This standard describes a method of test only and should not be used or quoted as a specification defining limits of purity. Reference to this standard should indicate that the method of test used is in accordance with BS4522:1988. A British
