、t of BS4742 specifies dimensions and performance requirements for the port connections for agricultural trailed vehicle hydraulic brake couplings complying with BS4742-4:1985. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this Part of BS4742 are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For
、 the purposes of this part of BS4742, the following definitions apply. 2.1 male part that part of the coupling which is rigidly attached to the tractor (seeBS4742-4) 2.2 female part that part of the coupling which is attached to the trailed vehicle brake hose and which incorporates a device that loc

It may be an integral part of the hose assembly or a separate adaptive fitting 2.4 adaptor seal a rubber ring, of rectangular section, between the hose adaptor and the fem
、ale part 2.5 bulkhead nut a nut which rigidly fixes the male part to the tractor 3 Dimensions The dimensions of the parts of the connection shall be as shown in Figure 1 as follows: 1(a) male part and bulkhead nut; 1(b) female part; 1(c) adaptor seal; 1(d) hose adaptor. 4 Performance When assembled
、with mating parts, the complete coupling assembly shall comply with the requirements, other than those for dimensions, given in BS4742-4. BS 4742-7:1989 2 BSI 10-1999 NOTEThe term International Rubber Hardness Degrees (IRHD) denotes the hardness scale recommended by the International Organization fo
、r Standardization (ISO). For substantially elastic isotropic materials, e.g.well vulcanized natural rubbers, the hardness in International Rubber Hardness Degrees bears a known relation to Youngs modulus (seeBS903).
