The principal changes from the 1975 editi

9、on are as follows: a) the hoses are classified as being with or without an oil resistant cover and are then divided into types according to the design working pressure; b) the requirement for uniformity of the lining and cover thickness is more precise; c) a requirement for the resistance to ozone a

10、nd the perforation of the cover has been added; d) a requirement for the concentricity of hoses has been added; e) the method of exposure to steam for assessment of resistance to steam is more precise; f) a requirement for marking the hose (as well as labelling with a tag) has been added. The standa

11、rd principally specifies performance and construction requirements. In order to take account of modern technological developments, no requirements are included for specific materials, constructions and manufacturing methods. Attention is drawn to BS5342 which covers the requirements for high-pressur

12、e steam hoses. In the absence of a suitable method of test no requirement is specified for the abrasion resistance of the cover of these hoses. When a suitable test method is available it will be incorporated in the standard together with a requirement. Itshould be recognized, however, that adequate

13、 abrasion resistance is essential. In the preparation of this standard consideration was given to ISO6134, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Attention is also drawn to the Health and Safety at Work etc.,Act1974 and the need to ensure that hoses specified in this

Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. Compliance with a British Standard does not of itself con

This standard has been updated (see copyright date) and may have had amendments incorporated. This will be indicated in

16、 the amendment table on the inside front cover.BS5122:1986 BSI 09-1999 1 1 Scope This British Standard specifies the requirements for the construction, physical properties and performance of two classes of rubber hoses having either an oil resistant or non-oil resistant cover. Each class is further

17、divided into two types for low-pressure and medium-pressure saturated steam. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this British Standard, the definitions given in BS3558 apply. 3 Classification Rubber ho

18、ses specified in this standard shall be classified as follows: Class A: having a non-oil resistant cover; Class B: having an oil resistant cover. Each class of hose shall be further divided into Type1: low-pressure steam hose with maximum working pressure2bar 1) ; Type2: medium-pressure steam hose w

19、ith maximum working pressure5bar. 4 Construction 4.1 The hoses shall consist of: a) seamless rubber lining; b) textile reinforcing layer or layers; NOTETextile reinforcing layers may be applied by any suitable technique. c) rubber cover. The lining and cover shall be free from holes, except as speci

21、the plies. 4.4 The end fittings used with the hose shall be of a type that provides for tightening up during service, such as the bolted clamp type, to compensate for creep of the rubber compounds. 5 Dimensions and tolerances 5.1 Bore When measured in accordance with the method described in BS5173-1

22、01.1, the bore of the hose shall be as given in Table 1. Table 1 Nominal bores and permissible deviations 5.2 Lining and cover thickness When measured in accordance with the method described in BS5173-101.1, the minimum thickness of the lining shall be2.0mm and the minimum thickness of the cover, ex

The variation in thickness of lining or cover shall not exceed15% of the measured mean thickness, excluding cover overlaps. 5.3 Concentricity When measured in accordance with the method described in BS5173-101.1, the variation from concentricity measured between insi

24、de and outside diameters shall not exceed2.0mm. 5.4 Permissible deviations on cut lengths of hoses When measured in accordance with BS5173-101.2, the permissible deviations on cut lengths of hoses shall be as given in Table 2.
