8、S5173 has been prepared under the direction of the Plastics and Rubber Standards Policy Committee. This Section supersedes clause10 of BS5173-3:1977 and completes the revision of BS5173-3:1977 which is withdrawn. The remainder of the 1976 and 1977 editions are to be revised and as each of the tests
9、is revised it is intended to issue it as a separate Part or Section of BS5173, as described in BS5173-100. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. NOTEThe titles o
12、f the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Apparatus The apparatus consists of rectangular section lengths of hardwood or metal, having the specified block widths, appropriate to the bore size of the hose under test (seeTable 1). 13、e fracture test 3 Test pieces Each test piece shall be a ring of hose containing three helices of polymer reinforcement. This shall be split with a clean cut along its length. 4 Conditioning of test pieces No test shall be carried out within24h of manufacture. Test pieces shall be conditioned at sta
14、ndard laboratory temperature (23 2 C) for at least3h before testing. NOTEThe3h may be part of the 24h period. 5 Procedure Open up the test piece and place it over the block appropriate to its nominal bore. Leave it in this position seeFigure 1(a) for3362h. Reverse bend the test piece until the outer
15、 surfaces touch seeFigure 1(b) and examine for cracking or failure of the helices. 6 Test report The test report shall include the following information: a) the hose type and nominal bore; b) the date of manufacture and batch number or reference, if known; c) the method of manufacture and details of
16、 reinforcement; d) the number and date of this British Standard, i.e.BS5173-103.7:1991; e) the block width used; f) the period of test; g) whether or not fracture of the helices occurred and if so, the position and mode of failure for each test piece; h) the date of test.
