、Standard, the following definitions, in addition to those given in BS 3456 : Part 1, 3.1 Fans 3.1.1 ventilating fan. A fan intended to displace air either from one side of a partition to the other, or within a duct installed either on the fan inlet or on the fan outlet or both. 3.1.2 partition type
、ventilating (type A) fan. A ventilating fan installed in or upon the aperture of a partition in order to displace air from one side of the partition to the other side, both the sides being free spaces. 3.1.3 free inlet ventilating (type 6) fan. A ventilating fan with a direct inlet from free space a
、nd with ducted outlet. 3.1.4 free outlet ventilating (type C) fan. A ventilating fan with ducted inlet, and with direct outlet to free space. 3.1.5 fully ducted ventilating (type D) fan. A ventilating fan with ducted inlet and ducted outlet. 3.1.6 centrifugal fan. A fan in which the air leaves the i
、mpeller in a direction substantially at right angles to its axis. 3.1.7 propeller fan. A fan in which the air leaves the impeller in a direction substantially parallel to its axis. 3.1.8 cross flow fan. A fan in which the air is caused to flow through the impeller in a direction substantially at rig
、ht angles to its axis, both entering and leaving the impeller at its periphery. 3.2 Types of enclosures of motors and regulators 3.2.1 totally enclosed type. An enclosure which does not provide for circulation of air between the inside and outside of the case, but which is not necessarily air-tight.
、 3.2.2 ventilated type. An enclosure in which the ventilation is not materially obstructed while the live and internal rotating parts are protected mechanically against accidental or careless contact: 3.3 rated air delivery. The normal working air delivery assigned to the fan by the maker. apply. 3.
、4 rated pressure. That pressure at which the fan delivers rated air delivery. 3.5 rated frequency. The frequency assigned to the fan or regulator by the maker. 4. Impellers 4.1 The impellers of the ventilating fans shall be well balanced. The blades and blade carriers shall be securely fixed so that
、 they do not loosen in operation. 4.2 Guards shall be fitted to fans where the fans are normally fitted in a position in wh-ich the blades would be easily accessible to the user. 5. Radio interference suppression Fans and regulators shall meet the relevant requirements of BS 800. 6. Speed regulators
、 Fan regulators shall be capable of reducing the full speed of the fan at the specified test voltage by at least 25 % in the case of capacitor motors and 20 % in the case of shaded pole motors. 7. Noise level Precautions shall be taken in the manufacture of fans and regulators to ensure that the noi
、se level at all speeds is subjectively acceptable. 8. Marking 8.1 Each fan shall be indelibly marked with at least-the following information additional to that specified in BS 3456 : Section 2.29. (a) Country of manufacture. (b) Rated air delivery at zero pressure (for partition type ventilating fan

(f) Rated frequency or rated frequency range. (9) Rated input in watts. (h) Makers name or trade mark. (i) Makers model or type reference.
、(j) Symbol for degree of protection against moisture, if applicable. (k) Symbol for fans of class I I, if applicable. NOTE. It is recommended that the above information should also be marked on the associated regulator, if it is separate from the fan. 8.2 For additional information that the manufact
