Because imperial film dimensions are still widely used in the UK, it was considered necessary to list the equivalent imperial film dimensions alongside the metric film size

10、-1999 1 1 Scope This Subsection of BS5550 specifies the lateral positions and width dimensions of original two-track negative photographic sound records on35mm motion-picture film and applies to raw stock cut and perforated in accordance with BS5550-3.1.1. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred
11、 to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Positions and dimensions The positions and dimensions of the two sound records shall be as shown inFigure 1 and given inTable 1 for100% modulation. NOTEThe values of the positions and width dimensions given in the table have been arrived at
12、 so that the final print produced from the negative will comply with BS5550-3.4.7. 3 Sound records 3.1 Channel 1 shall be recorded on the inside track nearest to the picture, and channel2 shall be recorded on the outside track nearest to the reference edge of the film. 3.2 The recording slit images
13、shall be positioned in line at an angle of90 5 to the reference edge of the film. 4 Track usage When used for stereophonic material, track1 shall be used for the left hand channel information and track2 shall be used for the right hand channel information. NOTE 1The two tracks may also be used for u
14、nrelated material such as two languages. NOTE 2It is recommended that the container of a negative having two sound records should be labelled with the track usage.
