It should be read in conjunction with Part1 General of BS5772:1985 (IEC512-1:1984) which contains information on fundamental test methods and procedures to be employed in implementing the requirements of this standard. The Technical Committee

20、peated) 1.1 Object The object of this test is to define a standard test method to assess the ability of a component to withstand the impacts it would receive when dropped repeatedly. 1.2 Preparation of the specimen Unless otherwise specified, the specimen shall not be mounted or wired, but shall be

21、fitted with normal accessories according to the detail specification. 1.3 Test method The specimen shall be tested in a tumbling barrel as shown in Figure 1. The barrel turns at a rate of approximately 5rev/min. The total number of revolutions (falls) shall be according to the detail specification.

22、NOTEWhen IEC65 applies, the barrel revolves50times if the mass of the specimen is up to250g and25times if the mass is greater than250g. 1.4 Final examination The specimen shall be visually examined according to test1a. If required by the detail specification, the operation shall be checked. 1.5 Requ

23、irements There shall be no broken parts or damage that would impair normal operation. 1.6 Details to be specified When this test is required by the detail specification, the following details shall be given: a) preparation of the specimen; b) accessories to be installed, when appropiate; c) total nu

24、mber of revolutions (falls); d) operational requirements; e) any deviation from the standard test method. 2 Test 7b: Mechanical strength impact 2.1 Object The object of this test is to detail a standard test method to assess the ability of an electromechanical component on the end of a cable or wire

25、 bundle to withstand impacts it could receive when dropped on to a hard surface. 2.2 Preparation of the specimen The specimen shall consist of a free connector or a similar component with its accessories fitted in the normal manner and wired as used in the normal application. The specimen shall be p

26、repared in accordance with the detail specification. 1) Scope of technical committee48: To prepare international standards regarding components having an inherent electromechanical connecting, or switching function, intended for use in equipment for telecommunication and in electronic devices employ

27、ing similar techniques. NOTE 1R.F. connectors will not be dealt with by this technical committee as they will be covered by technical committee46 together with r.f. cables. NOTE 2Sockets for components such as crystals or electronic tubes shall be considered in co-operation with the relevant technic

28、al committee.BS5772-5:1993 2 BSI 08-1999 If the component is normally provided for use with different types of cables, the thinnest and/or most flexible type shall be used. The length of the cable or wire bundle shall allow the rear of the specimen to be2250 10mm(88,6 0,4in) from the point of attach

29、ment. 2.3 Test method The specimen shall be attached in an appropriate manner at a distance of 2250 10 mm (88,6 0,4 in) from the rear of the component so that the specimen may swing freely from a horizontal to a vertical position as shown in Figure 2. NOTEAn appropriate manner may be the attachment

30、to a swivel. In many cases, however, simply attaching to a hook may be sufficient. The specimen shall be attached at one of the following preferred heights: A steel plate300mm 500mm(11,8in 19,7in) of25mm thickness shall be positioned so that the component under test will fall on to it. The specimen,

31、 attached at the specified height, shall be held in a horizontal position in an attitude as specified and dropped on to the steel plate. This cycle shall be repeated for a total number of times as specified in the detail specification. 2.4 Test requirements The component shall be visually examined.

32、There shall be no broken parts nor damage that would impair operation. 33、ed When this test is required by the detail specification, the following details shall be specified: a) preparation of the specimen; b) type of accessory, when required; c) cable or wire to be used; d) height or heights from which the component is to be dropped; e) number of dropping cycles at each

34、height; f) operational tests; g) any deviation from standard test method; h) attitude of the specimen. Section 2. Static load tests (fixedcomponents) 3 Test 8a: Static load, transverse 3.1 Object The object of this test is to detail a standard test method to assess the suitability of a fixed compone

35、nt for use in applications where it may be subject to transverse stresses. 3.2 Preparation of the specimen The specimen shall not be wired but shall be fitted with such accessories as may be required by the detail specification. Unless otherwise specified, the specimen shall be mounted in the normal

36、 manner, using the normal panel or chassis cut-out as laid down in the detail specification. NOTEThe plate should be strong enough to sustain the applied forces. The length and width of the plate should be such that the contour of the specimen is exceeded. 3.3 Test method A specified force shall be

37、applied to the specimen at the point and in the direction(s) as specified in the detail specification. This force shall be steadily increased up to the specified value and maintained for1min. The force shall be parallel to the mounting plate. 3.4 Final measurements a) Visual examination (test1a). b)

38、 Applicable operational characteristics. c) Sealing (test14), if applicable. 3.5 Requirements There shall be no damage which would impair normal operation. 39、hall be given: a) mounting of the specimen, including dimensions of the panel cut-out; b) type of accessories, if required; c) value of force; d) location, direction(s), rate and duration of application of the force; e) shape of the fixture or tool used for applying the force; f) requirements for fi

40、nal measurements; g) any variation from the standard test method. 4 Test 8b: Static load, axial 4.1 Object The object of this test is to detail a standard test method to determine the ability of a component to withstand a steady axial force which might occur during normal use. 4.2 Preparation of the

41、 specimen The specimen shall be rigidly mounted on a metal plate using its normal fixing device. The dimensions (length and width) of the mounting plate shall be such that the contour of the specimen is exceeded. 4.3 Test method A specified force shall be applied to the specimen at the point and in

42、the direction(s) as specified in the detail specification. This force shall be steadily increased up to the specified value and maintained for a specified period. The force shall be perpendicular to the mounting plate. 4.4 Final measurements a) Visual examination (test1a). b) Applicable operational

43、characteristics. c) Sealing (test14), if applicable. 4.5 Requirements There shall be no damage which would impair normal operation. 4.6 Details to be specified When this test is required by the detail specification, the following details shall be given: a) mounting of the specimen, including dimensi

44、ons of the panel cut-out; b) type of accessories, if required; c) shape of the fixture or tool used for applying the force, if necessary; d) force to be applied, point of the application, direction(s), rate of increase of the force and duration of application; e) final measurements to be applied; f)

45、 any deviation from the standard test method. 5 Test 8c: Robustness of actuating lever 5.1 Object The object of this test is to detail a standard test method to assess the robustness of the actuating lever of a toggle switch or a connector release mechanism. 5.2 Preparation of the specimen The speci

46、men shall be rigidly mounted on a metal plate using its normal fixing device. The dimensions (length and width) of the mounting plate shall be such that the contour of the specimen is exceeded. 5.3 Test method 5.3.1 Force A specified force shall be applied for1min at the tip of the actuating lever.

47、This force shall be applied in each of the following directions (see Figure 3): perpendicular to the lever axis and in the plane of lever travel and at each end position of the lever (F a1and F a2 ); perpendicular to the lever axis and perpendicular to the plane of lever travel at each position of t

48、he lever (F b1and F b2 ); axially with the lever axis towards the lever pivot (F c ); axially with the lever axis away from the lever pivot (F d ). The force shall be steadily increased at a rate of approximately20N/s up to the specified value and maintained for1min. 5.3.2 Torque A specified torque
