These normative references are made at the appropriate points in the text and the cited publication i

For dated references, only the edition cited applies; any subsequent amendments to or revision of the cited publication apply to this Part of BS 5873 only when incorporated in the reference by amendment or revision. For undated references, the latest edition of the

The editions of these publications current at the time of issue of this standard are listed on the inside back cover, but refer

Secure storage furniture which is intended for storage of relatively low value items, the

21、 value of which would not be sufficient to encourage entry attempts when the area in which the unit is placed is likely to be unoccupied. b) Security level H (Heavy). Secure storage furniture which is intended for storage of high value items, the value of which would put the furniture at risk of att

22、ack, and/or which is intended for use in isolated locations. 4 Security Secure storage furniture shall be tested when fully assembled and ready for use. The secure storage unit shall be subjected to the tests listed in table 1 for the relevant security level using the test procedures given in annex

23、A. It shall not be possible to remove the storage unit from its test mount, or to achieve access, using the times, means of attack and forces given in table 1. 5 Marking and labelling The secure storage units shall be marked permanently with the following information: a) the name and/or trademark of

24、 the manufacturer; b) the number and date of this British Standard, i.e. BS 5873 : Part 5 : 1998 1) ; c) the security level of the unit. 6 Instructions The secure storage unit shall be accompanied by instructions and recommendations for its secure attachment.BS 5873 : Part 5 : 1998 2 BSI 1998 2) For

26、re secure storage unit from a test mount or to gain entry into the interior and remove its contents. The hand-tools selected for the tests represent those which have been commonly used for attacks and which are widely available. The object of the methods of test is to assess whether the secure stora

27、ge unit can be removed entirely from its fixings or whether access to its contents can be achieved, either by opening the door or by deforming or penetrating it in such a way that the contents can be removed by hand or by a tool. Two security levels have been set (see table 1). A.2 General A.2.1 Tes

28、t mount The ease or difficulty with which the secure storage unit can be prised off a wall depends upon the strength of the wall itself. The secure storage unit shall therefore be test-mounted to a fixture of strength greater than that of the unit so that the assessment of its security, and mounting

29、 fasteners, if these are supplied, is independent of the mounting fixture. A.2.2 Test operatives and procedures A.2.2.1 Experience with a variety of designs and construction, gained during the development of the test procedures, has shown that it is impossible to entirely eliminate the human element

30、 from testing. In particular, the following points should be noted. a) Test operatives may become more adept at gaining access as more secure storage units are tested. b) Knowledge of the constructional details of a secure storage unit, either acquired or imparted, can facilitate gaining entry. c) T

31、he attacks are physically demanding. d) The variety of designs and construction of secure storage units precludes the establishment of a set of simple mechanical operations of specified magnitude. Secure storage units that prove resistant to entry by attack on one component or by one type of tool so

32、metimes yield easily when attacked at a different point or with another tool. A.2.2.2 As a consequence of the observations described in A.2.2.1a) and b), test operatives shall have previous experience of the testing of secure storage units, or similar products, for resistance to attack and shall be

33、allowed to examine the unit under test, as described in A.5.1.2, before commencing to attack it. A.2.2.3 As a consequence of the observation described in A.2.2.1c), care should be taken to ensure that the operatives have the necessary strength and stamina to perform the tests. A.2.2.4 As a consequen

34、ce of the observation described in A.2.2.1d), the test procedure involved requires that attacks are made using different combinations of tools and areas of the secure storage unit, either until the unit proves resistant to all approaches or until the combination most likely to effect entry has been

35、identified. In the latter case, the attack method is then continued in an attempt to gain entry. A.2.2.5 The hand-tools selected for the tests are specified in precise terms in order to standardize the attack test procedure to provide, so far as is possible, repeatable and reproducible results. A.3

36、Apparatus A.3.1 Test mount, comprising a surface to which the secure storage unit is affixed, having a strength and surface area greater than those of the unit to be tested. NOTE. Substantial timber beams, rag bolted to a brick or concrete wall (for wall-mounted tests) or floor (for floor-mounted te

Units intended to be mounted simultaneously both to the wall and floor together shall be tested secured both to the floor and wall. A.5 Procedure A.5.1 General A.5.1.1 Select the appropriate tests for the security level for the unit under test (see table 1). A.5.1.2

46、 Thoroughly inspect the secure storage unit noting any points of apparent weakness. Begin all tests, with the exception of A.5.2 and A.5.3, at these points. A.5.1.3 Perform the tests in the order listed in table 1, ceasing if the secure storage unit fails any test. If the unit satisfies the tests, r

A.5.1.4 The times for resistance to the various attacks given in A.5.4 to A.5.10 are exclusive of any periods of rest for the operative that may be required. A.5.2 Resistance to vertical downwards or upwards static load (wall mounted cupboa

48、rds or wall/floor mounted lockers when using wall mounting attachments only) Apply to the edges of the top or any other effective location, a downwards static force as specified in table 1 by means of the weights or other means (A.3.2). Remove the force after 30 s and determine if the secure storage

49、 unit has been detached from the test mount. Repeat the test procedure applying the static force specified in table 1 upwards to the edges of the top or bottom or any other effective location. A.5.3 Resistance to a horizontal static load Apply to the secure storage unit, in the centre of one side, a horizontal static load as specified in table 1. Remove the load after 30 s and determine whether the secure storage unit has been detached from the test mount. BSI 1998 5 BS 5873 : Part 5 : 1998 A.5.4 Resistance to
