Terminology and conventions. The text of the international standard has been approved as suitable for publication, withou

10、t deviation, as a British Standard. Some terminology and certain conventions are not identical with those used in British Standards. Cross-references. 15、onstructional characteristics for toroidal cores wound from strips of magnetically soft steel or alloyhaving a thickness of between 0.003mm and0.35mm. It includes standard ranges of maindimensions and recommendations for strip thickness, core protection, marking and packing. NOTEAll general factors

16、on strip-wound cores are covered in this standard. More particular information, for example, on tolerances of cores and recommendations for application, may be found in national standards. Dimensions of toroidal cores made from magnetic oxides or ferromagnetic powder are given in IEC Publication 525

17、: Dimensions of Toroids made of Magnetic Oxides or Iron Powder. 2 Terms and definitions 2.1 General terms For the definitions of the general terms used in this standard, reference should be made to IEC Publication 50, International Electrotechnical Vocabulary, and in particular to Chapter 901: Magne

18、tism. For the purpose of this standard, the following definitions shall apply: 2.2 toroidal strip-wound core a strip-wound core of circular shape 2.3 stacking factor ratio of the metal cross-section to the total built-up cross-section NOTEThe terms “lamination factor” or “space factor” are sometimes

23、tor 5 Standard widths of strips The core height is primarily governed by strip width. The following strip widths are preferred: 1.0mm; 1.5mm; 2mm; 3mm; 4mm; 5mm; 6mm; 8mm; 10mm; 12.5mm; 15mm; 20mm; 25mm; 30mm. NOTELarger or smaller strip widths may be based on R10 orR20 numbers. 6 Standard core size

24、s 6.1 Standard ratios of outside to inside diameter of plain cores (see Figure 1, page 7) are given in Table III. It is recommended that for each diameter ratio, the ratio of the height to inner diameter is approximately as indicated in this table. Table III Standard ratios NOTERatio d 1 /d 2= 1.1 i

25、s also acceptable for cores with d 1 # 10mm. 6.2 Standard outside diameters are: 2.5mm; 3.2mm; 4mm; 5mm; 6.3mm; 8mm; 10mm; 12.5mm; 16mm; 20mm; 25mm; 32mm; 40mm; 50mm; 63mm; 80mm; 100mm. NOTELarger diameters should be based on numbers from theR10 or R20 series. 6.3 Cores with ratio of inside diameter

26、 d 2to strip thickness of less than 100 are not recommended. 6.4 The complete standard ranges are given in Table IV. 7 Protection In order to obtain a sufficient insulation between the coil and the winding, and to avoid damage during transport and handling, the core may be protected in one of the fo

27、llowing ways: 7.1 Coated core The plain core is protected by an insulating material such as epoxy resin, usually applied by dipping or brushing. 7.2 Boxed core The plain core is sealed in a close-fitting annular box of plastic, aluminium or another material. In the case of metal boxes, precaution mu

28、st be taken to avoid any short-circuit turn effects. 7.3 Bobbin core The core is wound on a bobbin, usually ceramic or of stainless steel, which passes with the core through the complete treatment. Usually the bobbin is closed by a non-conducting cap or sleeve after the complete processing of the co

29、re. NOTECores with an outside diameter smaller than 10mm shall preferably be constructed as bobbin cores.
