8、8-1.4:1993 ii BSI 07-1999 National foreword This Section of BS6068, which has been prepared under the direction of the Environment and Pollution Standards Policy Committee, is identical with ISO6107-4:1993 Water quality Vocabulary Part4, published by the International Organization for Standardizatio
9、n (ISO). It supersedes BS6068-1.4:1986, which is withdrawn. The international standard was prepared by Subcommittee1, Terminology, of Technical Committee147, Water quality, of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) with the active participation and approval of the UK. This Section
10、of BS6068 is a revision of the1986 edition of BS6068-1.4, which implemented the1984 edition of ISO6107-4. In the1993 edition several minor technical changes have been incorporated into some of the entries of the1986 edition, namely terms2,3,5,7,8,11,14,17; and term16 has been transferred. BS6068 is
11、being published in a series of Parts subdivided into Sections that will generally correspond to particular international standards. Sections are being, or will be, published in Parts1 to7, which, together with Part0, are listed below. Part 0: Introduction; Part 1: Glossary; Part 2: Physical, chemica
12、l and biochemical methods; Part 3: Radiological methods; Part 4: Microbiological methods; Part 5: Biological methods; Part 6: Sampling; Part 7: Precision and accuracy. The terms included in Section1.1 are grouped under two main headings: “types of water” and “treatment and storage of water and waste
13、 water”. Section1.2 covers additional terms relating to types of water and the treatment and storage of water and waste water as well as terms used in the sampling and analysis of water. This Section of BS6068 and Sections1.3,1.5,1.6,1.7 and1.8 include definitions for further water quality terms pre
14、sented in alphabetical order. Further Parts of the international vocabulary are in preparation by ISO and when published they will be implemented as further Sections of this Part of BS6068. The intention is to combine eventually the separate Sections into one glossary with the terms in alphabetical
15、order. Terms relating to the treatment of water used in steam generation have been defined in appendices to BS1170 and BS2486. For ease of reproduction, the French, Russian and German text has been retained throughout this standard. Additional information. The definitions in this vocabulary have bee
16、n formulated to provide standardized terminology for the characterization of water quality. Terms included in this vocabulary may be identical to those contained in vocabularies published by other international organizations but the definitions may differ because they have been drafted for different
17、 objectives.
