In addition to the sizes of drawing board previously designated in these standards, three sizes have been introduced in this standard, namelyA1ext., A0ext. and2A0. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions

9、 professional use and for student use, for use with tee squares, parallel-motion units and drafting machines. Appendix A gives guidance on the selection of materials. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Dimensions and designation 2.1

10、 Depth and width. The depth and width of the boards shall be as shown inTable 1 within a tolerance of 2.0mm. 2.2 Thickness. The thickness of the boards shall be not less than that given inTable 1. 2.3 Designation. Boards shall be designated according to their dimensions, as shown inTable 1. The desi

11、gnationA1 shall be completed by the word “professional” or “student” as appropriate. 3 Working edges 3.1 Opposite edges. Opposite edges shall be parallel within a tolerance of 0.5mm over each1.0m length of working edge. 3.2 Straightness. When a steel straightedge, complying with the requirements for

12、 grade A of BS5204-2, is placed along a working edge, that edge shall not deviate from the straightedge by more than0.25mm over each1.0m length of the working edge. 13、 A of BS5204-2, is placed on a working surface, the surface shall not deviate from the straightedge by more than1.5mm, irrespective of the position of the straightedge on the surface. 5 Battens If battens are supplied with the board, they shall extend across not less than80% of the depth of the boar

14、d and shall be fixed to the board in a manner that leaves the board free to expand and contract. 6 Packaging 6.1 Professional boards. Each board shall be individually and entirely enveloped in a protective cover designed to protect the surfaces, edges and corners of the board. 6.2 Student boards. Ei

15、ther each board shall be packaged individually as specified in6.1, or several boards shall be packaged together in a carton with their faces separated by a non-abrasive medium. NOTEDrawing boards should be stored flat before use and, as far as possible, supported over their whole surface. In no circ

16、umstances should they be supported between battens or leant against vertical surfaces. During storage extremes of temperature and humidity should be avoided. The sizes of the boards exceed the paper sizes so as to provide adequate margins

BS6381:1983 2 BSI 12-1999 Appendix A Guidance on the selection of materials A.1 General materials The material of which a drawing board is made should be chosen to meet the requirements of clauses3 and4 and to maintain trueness of shape and dimension throughout storage and use. Suitable materials

19、from which selection may be made include blockboard, laminboard, high-density particle board and properly seasoned softwood. The material should be free of voids and other characteristics that might interfere with the fixture of attachments to the board. A.2 Surfacing material If a plastics surfacin
