The standard deals with shotbo
9、lts which are primarily used for locking opening guards in the closed position by means of spring force, the bolt being retracted electromagnetically by the operation of a solenoid. The aim of the standard is to reduce variety in shotbolts and thereby facilitate their interchangeability and replacem
10、ent. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application. 12、1 1 Scope This BritishStandard specifies fixing dimensions, envelope dimensions, electrical requirements and performance requirements for three sizes of shotbolts for use on guards for safeguarding machinery. This standard is not intended to apply to the safeguarding of machinery used in domestic ap
13、pliances. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back cover. 2 Dimensions Dimensions of shotbolts shall be as given in Table 1. 3 Performance The shotbolt action shall be designed and installed in such a way that the unpowered state is the guard-lock
14、ed state, i.e.power retract, spring extend. NOTEThe action should be so designed as to minimize the possibility of failure in the unlocked retracted state. 4 Electrical requirements 4.1 Supply voltage Shotbolts shall be designed to operate from the following supplies: a) a.c.:48V,110V or240V,50Hz b)
15、 d.c.:24V,48V,110V or240V. 4.2 Rating Shotbolts shall be continuously rated within an ambient temperature range of+5 C and40 C. 4.3 Wiring connections 4.3.1 The wiring shall either: a) pass through a conduit entry to terminals within the shotbolt; NOTE 1This is the preferred method. NOTE 2For machin
16、e tool applications, a terminal box entry of M20 1.5 (seeBS4568) is generally suitable. or, b) where monitoring is not required, terminate in a three-pin plug, complying with BS6361, within or integral with the bolt. 4.3.2 Terminations shall comply with BS2771-1 1) . 4.4 Switches Where electromechan
17、ical switches are used to monitor that the bolt is shot, position switches having positive opening operation complying with BS4794-2.20 shall be fitted. NOTE 1These switches may be either of the direct operating type or of a type which combines snap action with positive opening operation. Such switc
18、hes can have changeover contacts. NOTE 2The primary aim of monitoring is to ensure that the bolt is shot. Monitoring of bolt retraction is secondary and, although not always required, is recommended. NOTE 3The action of bolt withdrawal should positively operate one switch. 4.5 Solenoids 4.5.1 The so
19、lenoid shall be capable of operating at 10%of its rated voltage. If transient voltage protection to protect the device switching the solenoid from damage is not fitted, this shall be stated by the manufacturer. 4.5.2 Solenoids shall be d.c. operated. If the supply is a.c. a rectifier shall be incorp
20、orated. The electrical power required to operate the solenoid shall be stated by the manufacturer. 4.5.3 The degree of protection against the ingress of moisture, dust, etc., shall be stated by the manufacturer. NOTEFor applications where the solenoid is intended to be installed without further prot
21、ection, e.g.from a machine casing, the degree of protection should normally be to a minimum of IP54 (seeBS5420). 4.5.4 The solenoid and spring shall be capable of operating the shotbolt in any attitude of inclination of the bolt axis. 5 Corrosion protection The bolt and the component parts which act
22、uate the bolt shall be protected against corrosion. NOTEAttention is drawn to BS3382 and, for temporary protection, to BS1133-6. 6 Shape of bolt nose The shape of the bolt nose shall be as shown in Figure 1, except for slam latch applications where the profile may be modified to achieve the intended
