The nominal

9、 plan dimensions recommended are those given in ISO3676 buttheInternational Standard additionally specifies dimensional deviations of+0, 40mm. These deviations may cause problems in practice when the unit load is based on a pallet of identical plan dimensions, where ISO/DIS 6780-1 1)specifies tolera

10、nces of +0, 6mm, since this means that to meet the specified dimensions no part of the unit load can overhang the pallet at any point. The dimensional deviations specified in ISO3676 are to be reconsidered by the responsible ISO Technical Committee but pending resolution of this aspect the BSI commi

11、ttee has decided that the unit load plan dimensions established by ISO3676 should be recognized by the publication of a related British Standard. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct ap

14、ns for unit loads can help to reduce problems at all stages in the distribution of goods from initial handling to final storage. All nominal plan dimensions recommended in this standard are related to the dimensions of pallets in general use for the through transit of goods. The preferred unit load

15、size forms part of the modular system based on the 600mm 400mm module, which incorporates the preferred ISO pallet size1200mm 1000mm. Factors affecting actual plan dimensions of unit loads are load bulge, which may arise from filling, compression or setting, and stacking irregularity which occurs pa

16、rticularly in the manual formulation of transit package layers in a unit load (seeFigure 1). When choosing transport package materials and forming the unit load, consideration should be given to transit and storage conditions and every effort should be made to ensure that the unit load length and wi

17、dth will not vary from the nominal dimensions specified by more than a small margin. 1 Scope This British Standard recommends nominal plan dimensions for unit loads suitable for the distribution of goods. NOTEThe titles of the publications referred to in this standard are listed on the inside back c

18、over. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this British Standard, the following definitions apply. 2.1 unit load a load consisting of items or packages held together by one or more means, and shaped or fitted for handling, transporting, stacking and storing as a unit. The term is also used to describe

19、a single large item suitable for the same purpose 2.2 plan dimensions the dimensions of the rectangle defined on a horizontal surface by the four vertical planes intersecting at right angles which enclose a unit load free-standing on that surface (seeFigure 2) 2.3 distribution of goods the movement

20、of products from their point of origin to their destination and consisting of the following basic elements: a) packaging; b) unit loads; c) material handling systems; d) storage facilities; e) means of transportation. 3 Dimensions 3.1 The nominal plan dimensions of the preferred modular unit load ar

21、e1200mm 1000mm. NOTEThis unit load is derived from the basic600mm 400mm module specified in BS 6837 2)and as such it is an element of the modular distribution system. 3.2 The nominal plan dimensions of1200mm 800mm and1140mm 1140mm are also acceptable for unit loads. NOTEThe1140mm 1140mm plan dimensi

22、on is derived from the specified minimum internal width of the ISO series 1 general purpose freight container.
