A wide range of cleanin
8、g and polishing cloths is in use for different applications. BS7033 specifies requirements for a limited range of cloths suitable for cleaning and polishing applications and is being published in five Parts as follows: Part 1: Specification for optical polishing cloths for use on transparent plastic
9、s panels; Part 2: Specification for industrial wipers from reclaimed materials, and waste yarn for cleaning and lubricating purposes; Part 3: Specification for floorcloths and dishcloths; Part 4: Specification for window cleaning cloths 1) ; Part 5: Specification for general polishing cloths 1) . In
10、 this Part requirements are specified for optical polishing cloths for high quality optical systems and for use on transparent plastics panels. The standard applies to the end products quoted but can also be used to specify the fabrics from which they are manufactured. Many properties cannot be spec
11、ified objectively and cannot therefore be included in the specification. Examples of such properties include colour, handle, appearance and details of additional design features. Public sector purchasing authorities may be able to supply standard patterns which cover these properties and serve to re
12、solve any ambiguities of description. The standard only covers the basic description of the products and their construction and performance requirements. Purchasing authorities therefore may need to include additional information. The cloths are intended to be used with polishes also specified for u
13、se on transparent panels and mouldings and a prime requirement for the cloth and polish is that their combined use will significantly reduce light scattering due to minor damage of the surface of the transparency. A British Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contr

In particular, attention is drawn to Statutory Instrument1986 No.26, the Textile Products (Indications of Fibre Content) Regula
