18、f BS 7870 specifies requirements for the construction, dimensionsand mechanical and electrical properties of XLPE insulated, concentric copperwire screened waveform or helical cables with solid aluminium core conductorshaving a rated voltage of 0.6/1(1.2) kV. It is applicable to cables that, whenass

19、essed by the specified tests, produce lower levels of smoke and corrosivegases under exposure to fire than cables conforming to BS 7870-3.11 or toBS 7870-3.40.It specifies requirements for the following types of cable: 3-core, 3-phase, with XLPE insulation, a concentric neutral/earth conductorof cop

20、per wires on a synthetic bedding and a thermoplastic oversheath; 4-core, 3-phase and a separate neutral, with XLPE insulation, a concentricearth conductor of copper wires on a synthetic bedding, and athermoplastic oversheath.This section of BS 7870 is applicable to cables that are designed for a max

28、gnated by the voltages U0, U and Um, expressed in the formU0/U (Um).The voltage designation of cables in this standard shall be 0.6/1 (1.2) kV.The rated voltage of the cable shall be at least equal to the nominal voltage ofthe system for which it is intended.4 Core conductorsThe core conductors shal

29、l be shaped solid aluminium in accordance with Table 1or Table 2, as applicable, and shall conform to the requirements for solidconductors (class 1) as specified in BS EN 60228. The conductors shall alsoconform to the dimensional requirements specified in BS 3988:1970+A3, 2.4.2.Conformity shall be c

30、hecked by visual examination and measurement asspecified in 14.2.The d.c. resistance shall conform to the relevant value given in Table 1 orTable 2, as applicable.Conformity shall be checked by the test method specified in 13.2.5 InsulationThe insulation of the core conductors specified in Clause 4

31、shall be XLPE typeDIX 3 conforming to the requirements given in BS 7870-1, Annex B.The insulation shall be applied by extrusion and shall form a compact andhomogeneous layer.The thickness of the insulation shall be in accordance with the relevant valuesspecified in Table 1 or Table 2, as applicable.

32、Conformity shall be checked by the test methods specified in 14.3.The cores of all cables shall be identified by colours as follows:a) 3-core: brown, black, grey;b) 4-core: brown, black, grey, blue.6 Assembly of coresThe cores shall be laid up with a right-hand direction of lay, in the sequencespeci

33、fied in Clause 5.The minimum lay length of the cores shall be as specified in Table 1 or Table 2,as applicable.NOTE Suitable binder tapes may be applied to form a compact assembly.7 Concentric conductor7.1 MaterialThe concentric conductor shall consist of plain annealed copper wires.NOTE In order to

34、 maintain the waveform during manufacture, the copper wirestypically need to be annealed to a level to achieve greater than 18% elongation atbreak.BRITISH STANDARDBS 7870-3.50:20112 The British Standards Institution 20127.2 ApplicationThe wires shall be applied concentrically with either a helical o

35、r a waveform lay.In the case of a waveform lay, the lay length shall be as specified in Table 1 orTable 2, as applicable.In the case of a helical lay, the wires shall be applied with a left-hand directionof lay. The lay length shall be approximately 15 times the pitch circle diameterformed by the wi

36、res.The mean gap between adjacent wires shall not exceed 4 mm and at any pointthe gap shall not exceed 8 mm.Where the wires are applied in a waveform lay the developed length of eachwire in the waveform wavelength shall be at least 106%.Conformity shall be checked by visual examination and measureme

37、nt asspecified in 14.5.The d.c. resistance of the concentric conductor shall conform to the relevantvalue given in Table 1 or Table 2, as applicable.Conformity shall be checked by the test method specified in 13.2.NOTE 1 Examples of waveform concentric conductor construction are given inTable 1 and

38、Table 2.NOTE 2 One or more overlapped synthetic binder tapes may be appliedimmediately over the concentric layer.7.3 Bedding layerThe copper wires shall be bedded on an extruded or taped layer of syntheticmaterial.Conformity shall be checked as specified in 14.4.1.The bedding layer shall be compatib

39、le with the insulation and the oversheath.Conformity shall be checked by the test method specified in 15.8.The material shall be easily removable.If the bedding layer is extruded, conformity shall be checked as specifiedin 14.4.2.8 OversheathThe oversheath shall be an extruded layer of compound type

40、 DMZ 4,conforming to the requirements given in BS 7870-1, Annex B. Unless otherwiseagreed between the manufacturer and the purchaser, the oversheath shall becoloured orange.NOTE Colours other than orange may be provided by agreement between themanufacturer and the purchaser, subject to their suitabi

The charactersshall have a minim

48、um height of 3 mm.1)Marking BS 7870-3.50 on or in relation to a product represents a manufacturersdeclaration of conformity, i.e. a claim by or on behalf of the manufacturer that theproduct meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is solelythe claimants responsibility. Such
