16、8.NOTE The synthetic material used for the saddle tree should be thermostatic between 0 C and 40 C. It should have a Shore hardness of at least 90 between 20 C and 40 C.6.2 Gullets shall be of either:a) pressed steel conforming to BS 1449-1 or BS EN 10111:2008, grade CR3 or grade HR4 P orb) forged s

17、teel conforming to BS EN 10083-2:2006, steel name C22E, steel number 1.1151; orc) cast steel conforming to BS 3146-1:1974, type CLA 4; ord) stainless steel conforming to type 304 HR or BS EN 10088-2.The gullets shall be not less than 2.95 mm thick and 25 mm wide at the apex of the plate. NOTE Any fi

18、nishing process should not affect the strength of the metal.6.3 Rivets used for the fitting of stirrup bars shall be of mild steel conforming to BS 641 and shall have a diameter of not less than 3.97 mm.7 Strength7.1 When tested in accordance with Annex A, the deflection shall be not more than 10 mm

19、 and the saddle tree shall not be damaged.7.2 When tested in accordance with Annex B, the permanent set shall be not more than 5 mm and the saddle tree shall not be damaged.NOTE The test methods specified in Annex A and Annex B are static tests. Attention is drawn to the fact that other types of tes

20、ting, such as dynamic stress testing, are currently in use. It is anticipated that future revisions of this document will include such methods.BRITISH STANDARD BSI 2009 3BS 7875:20098 Symmetry8.1 To ensure symmetry, measurements between datum points in Figure 2, relating to the right and left side o

21、f the tree, shall be in accordance with Table 2. 24、he number and year of this British Standard, which shall be stamped, marked or engraved on the stirrup bar;1)b) the fitting identification (see Clause 4), which shall be stamped on the underside of the forepart of the tree.1)Marking BS 7875:2009 on or in relation to a product represents a manufactur

25、ers declaration of conformity, i.e. a claim by or on behalf of the manufacturer that the product meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is solely the claimants responsibility. Such a declaration is not to be confused with third-party certification of conformity.BS 7875:200

26、96 BSI 2009BRITISH STANDARDAnnex A (normative) Method of test for the deflection of saddle treesA.1 PrincipleThe saddle tree is supported at specified points, subjected to a load through the stirrup irons and the deflection is measured. The saddle tree is then examined for visible damage.A.2 Apparat

27、usA.2.1 Stirrup bar, capable of withstanding a load of 10 103N.A.2.2 Steel former, of 152 mm diameter.A.2.3 Weights, or other means of loading the stirrups, to produce a downwards force of 8.9 103N null0.5 103N.NOTE This force is approximately equivalent to the downwards force generated by 2 000 lb.

28、A.2.4 Stopwatch, or similar timing device.A.2.5 Measuring instrument (e.g. a rule), capable of measuring in increments of 1 mm.A.3 ProcedureA.3.1 Prepare the saddle tree as intended for use in a saddle. Fit with stirrup bar (A.2.1) and rivet on to withstand the test conditions using rivets conformin

29、g to 6.3.A.3.2 Place the saddle tree on the steel former (A.2.2) and mark datum points (Y and Z) on the saddle tree, measuring 178 mm from the top (X) of the front arch down on either side of the front edge of the tree as shown in Figure A.1.A.3.3 Load the saddle tree by gently adding weights (A.2.3

30、) evenly to the stirrups, so that a total force of 8.9 103N null0.5 103N is applied.A.3.4 Allow the load to act for 300 s null5 s, as measured with the stopwatch (A.2.4), and measure the deflection at the datum points (see A.3.2), using the measuring instrument (A.2.5).A.3.5 Remove the load and visu

31、ally examine the saddle tree for damage.A.4 Test reportThe test report shall contain the following information:a) the identity of the saddle tree;b) the deflection, when loaded, at the datum points, expressed in millimetres;c) whether or not the saddle tree was damaged; andd) the date of testing.BRI
