12、duction, chemicalcomposition and mechanical and physical properties of limestone fines for use incombination with CEM I Portland cement strength class 42.5 or higherconforming to BS EN 197-1 as a component of concrete, mortar or grout. It alsospecifies requirements for marking, provision of informat

22、ll be correctly prepared, i.e. selected, homogenized andcomminuted depending on their state of production or delivery.During the production of limestone fines and their control, the composition andrequirements specified in this British Standard shall be maintained.Limestone fines shall be subjected

23、to the conformity assessment specified inAnnex B.4.2 Chemical composition4.2.1 Calcium carbonateWhen determined in accordance with the method given inBS EN 196-2:2013, 4.5.12 or 4.5.14, for calcium oxide, and expressed as calciumcarbonate, the calcium carbonate content shall be not less than a mass

24、fractionof 75% of the limestone fines.NOTE The preferred method for this test is given in BS EN 196-2:2013, 4.5.12.4.2.2 ChlorideWhen determined in accordance with BS EN 196-2:2013, Clause 4, the chloridecontent shall be not greater than a mass fraction of 0.1% of the limestone fines.NOTE BS 8500-1

25、gives recommendations for the maximum total chloride content ofconcrete mixes for various applications.4.2.3 Total sulfurWhen determined in accordance with BS EN 1744-1, the total sulfur content(expressed as sulfate, SO4) shall be not greater than a mass fraction of 1% of thelimestone fines.4.2.4 Cl

26、ay contentWhen determined in accordance with BS EN 933-9, the methylene blueadsorption (which indicates the clay content) shall be not greater than 1.2 gblue per 100 g of limestone fines.BRITISH STANDARDBS 7979:20162 The British Standards Institution 20164.2.5 Organic material contentWhen determined

27、 in accordance with BS EN 13639, the organic material contentshall be not greater than a mass fraction of 0.5% of the limestone fines.4.2.6 AdditivesThe total quantity of additives shall not exceed a mass fraction of 1% of thelimestone fines.Additives shall be acceptable for use only if they are kno

28、wn not to promotecorrosion of the reinforcement or impair the properties of the limestone fines orof the concrete or mortar made from the combination of the limestone finesand cement.5 Moisture contentWhen determined in accordance with Annex C, the moisture content shall benot greater than a mass fr

29、action of 0.5% of the limestone fines.6 Compressive strength6.1 Limestone fines with CEM I Portland cement of strengthclass 42.5When tested in accordance with BS EN 196-1, a combination consisting of 80%CEM I Portland cement of strength class 42.5 conforming to BS EN 197-1,and 20% limestone fines, s

30、hall have the following compressive strength:a) at 7 days: 16.0 N/mm2;b) at 28 days: 32.5 N/mm2and 52.5 N/mm2.6.2 Limestone fines with CEM I Portland cement of strengthclass 52.5When tested in accordance with BS EN 196-1, a combination consisting of 80%CEM I Portland cement of strength class 52.5 co

31、nforming to BS EN 197-1,and 20% limestone fines, shall have the following compressive strength:a) at 2 days: 10.0 N/mm2;b) at 28 days: 42.5 N/mm2and 62.5 N/mm2.NOTE The recommended procedure for determining conformity to strength classcriteria for combinations of limestone fines and CEM I Portland c

32、ement is given inBS 8500-2:2015, Annex A.7 Physical properties7.1 FinenessWhen determined in accordance with BS EN 451-2 or BS EN 933-10, the finenessof the limestone fines expressed as the proportion by mass retained on a 45 mtest sieve shall not exceed 10.0%.In case of dispute, wet sieving to BS E

33、N 451-2 shall be the reference method.BRITISH STANDARD BS 7979:2016 The British Standards Institution 2016 37.2 Initial setting timeWhen determined in accordance with BS EN 196-3, a paste of standardconsistence made from a combination consisting of 80% CEM I Portland cementof strength class 42.5 or

34、higher conforming to BS EN 197-1, and 20% limestonefines, shall have an initial setting time of not less than 75 min.7.3 SoundnessWhen determined in accordance with BS EN 196-3, a paste of standardconsistence made from a combination consisting of 80% CEM I Portland cementof strength class 42.5 or hi

35、gher conforming to BS EN 197-1, and 20% limestonefines, shall have an expansion of not more than 10 mm.8 MarkingLimestone fines shall be marked on the bag or the delivery note, and on anytest report, with the following particulars:a) name, trademark or other means of identification of the manufactur

36、er tofacilitate traceability to the works in which the limestone fines wereproduced;b) name of the material, i.e. limestone fines;c) number and date of this British Standard, i.e. BS 7979:20161).9 Information to be provided by the manufacturer9.1 Test reportIf a test report is requested by the purch

37、aser, it shall contain the followinginformation2):a) calcium carbonate content of the limestone fines (see 4.2.1);b) chloride content of the limestone fines (see 4.2.2);c) compressive strength of the combination (see Clause 6);d) fineness of the limestone fines (see 7.1);e) initial setting time of t

38、he combination (see 7.2);f) soundness of the combination (see 7.3);g) source of the CEM I Portland cement used in the tests, and its setting timeand compressive strength at either two days (class 42.5) or seven days(class 52.5) and 28 days when tested in the laboratory which is testing itscombinatio

39、n with the limestone fines.1)Marking BS 7979:2016 on or in relation to a product represents a manufacturersdeclaration of conformity, i.e. a claim by or on behalf of the manufacturer that theproduct meets the requirements of the standard. The accuracy of the claim is solelythe claimants responsibili

40、ty. Such a declaration is not to be confused with third-partycertification of conformity.2)The test report should be available from the manufacturer.BRITISH STANDARDBS 7979:20164 The British Standards Institution 20169.2 Additional informationThe following information shall also be supplied to the p

41、urchaser, if requestedat the time of ordering:a) declared mean alkali content, expressed as the sodium oxide equivalent,determined in accordance with BS EN 196-2, which will not be exceededwithout prior notice from the manufacturer;b) an indication of the variability of the chloride content when its

42、 mean levelexceeds a mass fraction of 0.05% (see 4.2.2);c) total sulfur content (see 4.2.3);d) clay content (see 4.2.4);e) organic material content (see 4.2.5).10 Sampling and testing for acceptance inspection atdelivery10.1 If, at the request of the purchaser, the manufacturer carries out samplinga

43、nd testing for assessment of conformity at delivery, the procedures specified into 10.2, 10.3 and 10.4 shall be followed.10.2 A spot sample of the limestone fines shall be taken in accordance withBS EN 196- 7:2007, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4 or 6.5 either before, or at the time of, delivery.A laboratory sample s

44、hall be prepared and packed in accordance withBS EN 196-7:2007, Clauses 8 and 9. A sampling report shall be completed at thetime of sampling and shall be attached to the laboratory sample in accordancewith BS EN 196-7:2007, Clause 10.NOTE 1 Testing may be delayed for up to 3 months from the time of

45、sampling,provided that there is confirmation that the sample has been stored continuously asspecified in BS EN 196-7:2007, 9.2.NOTE 2 When the limestone fines in combination with cement are tested forstrength (see Clause 6), it is recommended that the pit or quarry from which theCEN Standard sand (s

46、ee BS EN 196-1) is obtained, and the compaction procedure tobe used, should be those in use by the manufacturer at the time the limestone fineswere originally tested.NOTE 3 The source of CEN Standard sand and the compaction procedure caninfluence the strength achieved (see BS EN 196-1).10.3 When the

47、 chemical composition of the limestone fines is analyzed (see 4.2),the sample shall be prepared by the procedure described in BS EN 196-2.10.4 When tested in accordance with the methods specified in Table 1, thesample shall conform to the values specified in Clauses 4, 5, 6 and 7, within thelimits s
