It applies to travel adaptors having at le
18、astone plug or socket-outlet portion compatible with BS 1363 plugs andsocket-outlets, which are suitable for the connection of a non-BS 1363 plug, orto a non-BS 1363 socket-outlet.Travel adaptors incorporating USB circuits for charging devices are also coveredby this standard.This British Standard a
19、pplies to travel adaptors intended for use in household,commercial and light industrial premises where: the nominal supply voltage does not exceed 250 V a.c. single-phase, 50 Hzto 60 Hz; or the rated current of the travel adaptor does not exceed 13 A and is not lessthan 5 A.Travel adaptors within th

41、d;c) configurable or non-configurable;d) with or without provision for earthing;e) for use within the UK (i.e. with BS 1363 type plug pin portion);f) for use outside the UK (i.e. with BS 1363 type socket portion).5 General requirements5.1 Travel adaptors shall be so designed and constructed that, in
42、 normal use,their performance is reliable and minimizes risk of danger to the user orsurroundings.5.2 Travel adaptors incorporating plug pins and/or socket-outlets for use with acountrys specific standard sheets shall conform to the dimensional requirementsof those relevant standards sheets. Travel
43、adaptors incorporating plug pinsand/or socket-outlets for use with more than one countrys standard sheets shallconform to those standard sheets as far as they reasonably apply.6 Type testing6.1 Unless otherwise specified, travel adaptors shall be tested as delivered inaccordance with normal use at a
44、n ambient temperature of (20 5) C, afterbeing conditioned at normal laboratory temperature and humidity levels for atleast four days.6.2 Travel adaptors used for the tests shall be representative of production itemsin respect of all details which might affect the test results.6.3 Travel adaptors sha
45、ll be submitted to inspection and tests in accordance withTable 1.6.4 Travel adaptors shall be deemed to conform if no travel adaptor fails in thecomplete series of tests given in Table 1. If one travel adaptor fails in any groupin the complete series of tests specified in Table 1, then travel adapt
46、ors of thattype shall be deemed to have failed to conform to this British Standard, unlessthat travel adaptor is shown to be not representative of normal production ordesign, in which case a further set of travel adaptors shall be submitted to thetest or tests in that group. If there is no failure i
47、n this retest then traveladaptors of that type shall be deemed to conform to this British Standard.6.5 If more than one travel adaptor fails in the complete series of tests givenin Table 1 then travel adaptors of that type shall be deemed to have failed toconform to this British Standard.BRITISH STA
