20、s to enable evaluation of the abilityofa firedamperinstallationto maintainthe integrityoffireratedbarr iers.Typical fire barrier ratings are given in ISO13702:1999, Table C.5.The following performance c riteria are evaluated by this Technical Specification: a) fire integrityand insulation: to limit/
21、control the spread of radiated and conducted heat at the protected side of a fire damper installation; it is necessary to determine the distancefromthe dampers blades,infree airor along a duct, where temperatures do not exceed requirements;b) abilityto provide protection from both hydrocarbon pool f
22、iresand jet fires;c) leakage past closed blades; d) abilitytowithstand overpressure that canarise froman explosion. This Technical Specification isbased on the use of existingapproved fire research and testing facilities. Specially constructed facilities can be required fortesting blast pressure wit
23、hstand capability.It is importantthat testdampersbe installed in a manner that represents their design installation. In carryingout the tests described in this Technical Specification, it is necessary to refertoother standardsconnected with the fire-testing of materials and application in the petrol
24、eum and natural gas industries. The testmethods simulate thermal and overpressure condition sthat can result from fire and explosion. The conditions in a real incident can be different, so thetestresults and resultant damper designations do notguarantee safety but can be used as elements of a fire a
25、nd explosion risk assessment that takes into account all other pertinent factors.NOTE It is planned to determine some aspects of this Technical Specification during the development and testingstage. 28、ies a method fordetermining the following: a) abilityoffiredampers installed in ventilation syst emsto prevent the spread of fire and heat through designated fire divisions;typical ratings are given in ISO13702:1999, Table C.5. b) fire damper operational reliabilityinthe petroleum, petrochemical and
29、 natural gas industries, particularlyoffshore installations; NOTE It is planned to determine the methodology during the testing and development phase. c) abilityoffiredampersinstalled in ventilation systemsto withstand blast overpressuresthat mayresultfrom the explosion of a flammable gas. This Tech
30、nical Specification applies to different start-up operations fordifferent types of furnace and, therefore,tolerancesintestconditionsat the beginningofthe test are not describedin detail. The fire testenables only a limited assessment of the actuating mechanismbeing carried out and additional tests c

40、etails will be defined during the development and testing stage. c) blast pressure. 4.2Hydrocarbon poolfiretest4.2.1 General test procedure The testshall be carried out in accordancewith ISO834-1, except where amended by this Technical Specification.The time-temperaturecurve shall beinaccordance wit
41、h EN 1363-2:1999, 4.1 and Figure 1. 4.2.2 Test environmentThe testshall be carried out in an environment in which the effectsofweather do not significantly affect thetest. The testspecimen should be shielded from the effec ts of a highwind and testing should not be carried out if wind speed in the i
42、mmediate vicinity exceeds 3 m/s. The ambient temperature range forthe test is 10 C to + 40 C. 4.2.3 Specimen mounting The testspecimen comprised of the damper assembly, ducting sections and supporting structure shall be constructed in accordancewith an approved “H”ratingdesign and insulated to a H12
43、0 rating on the stiffenedexternal face of the furnace. Vertical and horizontal arr angements should be of similar construction. The firedamper should be fixed in position in the same manner as intended fora design installationand should be asclose to the fire barrier division as possible. Extension
44、ducts and insulation shall be provided as required tomeet thermal performance criteria and to enable measurement of temperatures arising from radiated, conducted and convected heat on the unexposed side of the fire damper.
