14、This European Prestandard (ENV) was approved by CEN/CENELEC on1991-05-15 as a prospective standard for provisional application. The period of validity of this ENV is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN/CENELEC will be requested to submit their comments, particularly

15、on the question whether the ENV can be converted into an EN. CEN/CENELEC members are required to announce the existence of this ENV in the same way as for an EN and to make the ENV available promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards i

16、n force (in parallel to the ENV) until the final decision about the possible conversion of the ENV into an EN is reached. 19、. The Two-Review Enquiry on the ENV was started by the CEN/CENELEC CS on89-01-30, the conclusion of which was for WG CSC to revise the standard. The revised standard was voted upon at a CEN/CENELEC voting meeting. The result of the voting from the meeting, held on91-04-16, was positive and the revis

22、ept and structure of Functional Standards for Information Systems Interconnection are laid down in the CEN/CENELEC/ETSI Memorandum M-IT-01. The purpose of a Functional Standard is to recommend when and how certain information technology standards should be used. This Functional Standard specifies th

23、e character repertoire defined as S/15 in the CEN/CENELEC/ETSI Memorandum M-IT-02 and an additional Greek repertoire. 1 Scope and field of application This Functional Standard is intended to be used with and identified within other functional standards that specify strings of coded graphic character

24、s forming the information received from or transmitted to the Teletex service, or for use in private information processing systems using Teletex technology. 29、in this Functional Standard are defined in the references. 5 Scenario description With the field of application as stated in section1, the scenario for this Functional Standard is as follows: This Functional standard specifies four different character repertoires.ENV41502:1991 4 BSI 04-2000 5.1 Repe

30、rtoire Option A is intended to be used for information to be received from or transmitted to the Teletex Service, comprising Latin alphanumeric and special graphic characters. 5.2 Repertoire Option B is intended to be used in private information processing systems using teletex technology. It compri

31、ses Latin alphanumeric and special graphic characters. 5.3 Either of the repertoires Option A or Option B can be combined with a supplementary repertoire of Greek alphabetic characters. Repertoire Option C comprises a Latin and Greek repertoire to be used for information to be received from or trans

32、mitted to the Teletex Service, and repertoire Option D the Latin and Greek repertoire to be used in private information processing systems using teletex technology. NOTEThis Functional Standard does not describe the Teletex service. In the preparation of this Functional Standard the specifications o

33、f Teletex was assumed to be as in ETS300015. 6 Conformance 6.1 Conformance of information interchange A CC-data-element within coded information for interchange is in conformance with this Functional Standard if all the coded representations of characters within that CC-data-element conform to the r

34、equirements of clause7 of this Functional Standard. A claim of conformance shall identify the option adopted as specified in clause8. 6.2 Conformance of devices A device is in conformance with this Standard if it conforms to the requirements of6.2.1, and either or both of clauses6.2.2 and6.2.3 below

A claim of conformance shall identify the documents which contains the description specified in clause6.2.1 and shall identify the option adopted. 6.2.1 Device description A device that conforms to this Functional Standard shall be the subject of a description that identifies the means by which th

36、e user may supply characters to the device, or may recognize them when they are made available to him, as specified respectively in clauses6.2.2 and6.2.3 below. 6.2.2 Originating devices An originating device shall allow its user to supply any sequence of characters conforming to the adopted option

37、of this Functional Standard, and shall be capable of transmitting their coded representations within a CC-data-element. 6.2.3 Receiving device A receiving device shall be capable of receiving and interpreting any coded representation of characters that are within a CC-data-element, and that conforms

38、 to clause6.1 of this Functional Standard, and shall make the corresponding characters available to its user in such a way that its user can identify them from among those of the adopted option, and can distinguish them from each other. The conformance clauses rely on the following generalized defin

39、itions: CC-data-element: An element of interchanged information that is specified to consist of sequences of coded representations of characters, in accordance with one or more identified standards of coded character sets. Device: A component of information processing equipment which can transmit, a

40、nd/or can receive, coded information within CC-data-elements. (It may be an input/output device in the conventional sense, or a process such an application program or gateway function.) User: A person or other entity that invokes the services provided by a device. (This entity may be a process such

41、as an application program if the “device” is a code convertor or a gateway function, for example.)ENV41502:1991 BSI 04-2000 5 7 Character repertoires 7.1 Latin repertoire for the Teletex Service The Latin repertoire for the Teletex service (repertoire Option A) comprises308 graphic characters as fol

42、lows: the234 Latin alphabetic characters, and the74 non-alphabetic characters, listed in clauses3.2.2 and3.2.3 of CCITT Recommendation T.61. 7.2 Latin repertoire for private information processing systems using teletex technology The Latin repertoire for private information processing systems using

43、teletex technology (repertoire OptionB) comprises347 graphic characters: the308 characters according to clause7.1 of this Functional Standard, the following10characters from the repertoire denoted as S/14in ENV41503: the29 linedrawing characters denoted as repertoire S/18 in ENV41505. 7.3 Optional s

44、upplementary Greek alphabetic repertoire The supplementary Greek alphabetic repertoire comprises70characters: the69 Greek alphabetic characters according to clause E.3.1.1.3.2 of CCITT Recommendation T.61, the diacritical mark DIAERESIS WITH ACUTE ACCENT used as a separate graphic character. The sup

45、plementary Greek alphabetic repertoire is used together with either the repertoire of clause7.1 (forming repertoire Option C), or with the repertoire of clause7.2 (forming repertoire Option D). 8 Identification of options If a reference to this Functional Standard is made for specification purposes
