Itisgenerallyapplicabletoallcladsteelsandisappropriateregardlessofthetypeoffabricationinvolved,although theapplicatio

17、nstandardmayhaveadditionalrequirements.Nonferrouscladdings,suchastitanium,tantalum, zirconiumandtheiralloysarenotcoveredbythisstandard. ExamplesforjointpreparationaregiveninENISO96924. Thisstandardcoversweldingofcladdingdepositsaswellasweldingofthetransitionzone(s),whenexisting, betweenparentmetalan

18、dcladding.Thesetransitionzonesaremetal combinationsofnonalloyedferrousparent metalwithhighalloyedstainlesssteels,nickelalloysorothernonferrousmetals. Themechanicalandphysicaldesignofthejointsisnotcoveredbythisstandard.Methodsoftestingand acceptancelevelsarenotincludedbecausetheydependontheservicecon

26、withtheadjacentmedium, isdesignedtomeetrequirementssuchascorrosionresistance,abrasionand/orheatresistanceatdifferentworking temperatures. 4.2Parentmetal Theparentmetalisaweldablesteel,commonlyaccordingtoCRISO15608:2000(group1to6).Theparentmetal hastoprovidetherequiredstrengthandtoughnesstomaintainme

27、chanicalintegrity. 4.3Cladding Claddingincludes: StainlesssteelsaccordingtoEN100881; Nickelandnickelalloys; Copperandcopperalloys; Cobaltalloys(stellites). Claddingshallbecapableofbeingjoinedbyarcweldingprocessestotheparentmetals. Thefinishedsurfaceconditionsofcladdingparticularlyusedincomponentsfor

28、thechemicalindustryshould guaranteeanadequatecorrosionresistanceandotherspecifiedcharacteristics.Forinformationoncorrosion resistanceofcladdingseerelevantapplicationstandards. 5 Weldingconsumablesforcladdingdeposits Thecladdingdeposit,includingdilutionwiththecladding,shallbecompatiblewiththecladding

29、.Therefore, consumablesshouldbeselectedwithregardtotheparentmetal,tothecladdingandtheparticularapplication.The consumablesshallcomplywiththerelevantstandardsand/orspecifications. Whereconsumableinsertsareused,theyshallcorrespondwiththerelevantfillermetalcomposition.EN10115:2003(E) 6 Insomecases,thef

30、illermetalsusedforthebutteringmayalsobeusedforfillingandcappingruns,ifappropriate fortheapplication. Theserviceconditionsofacladsteelcomponent,suchasworkingtemperatureorpossiblepostweldheat treatment(PWHT)shallbeconsideredwhenselectingappropriateconsumables. Itisnecessarytopayattentiontotheeffectsof

31、dilutionwhendepositingonelayeronanother,especiallythefirst layerontheparentmetal.Theweldingprocess,theweldingconditionsandtheconsumableshaveasignificant influenceonthechemicalcompositionsandtheferritenumbers(FN)ofastainlesscladdingdeposit.Gainsor lossesofalloyingelements,forexamplethemetallurgicalre

32、actionsbetweenwire/stripandfluxesorgases,haveto betakenintoaccount. Iftheferritenumberisarequirementinthespecification,themethodsformeasurementaccordingtoENISO8249, e. g.themagneticdeterminationwithcalibratedinstruments,shouldbeinaccordancewiththedesign specification.Incaseofdispute,theWRC92constitu

33、tiondiagramshallbeused. 6 Weldingprocedures Differentarcweldingprocessesmaybeusedtoproducecladdingdepositsmatchingspecifiedrequirements. Depositsinone,twoormorelayerscanberealizedinordertoachievetherequiredcharacteristic.Thenumberof thelayersdependsonseveralfactorsandshouldbeconfirmedbyaweldingproce

34、durespecification. Commonlytheselectionofanyweldingproceduredependson: welding position; access conditions; alloytype; specifiedrequirements,suchasdilutionrate(whichshouldgenerallybekeptaslowaspossible,providedthat penetrationisadequate). 7Fabrication Whenstoring,handlingorfabricatingcladsteels,meas

35、uresshallbetakentoprojectthecladdingfrom contaminationandsurfacedamage.Incaseofdamageimpairstheserviceperformance,reconditioningshallbe undertakenaccordingtoEN 10113orotherrelevantstandards. Repairing/restoringofdamagedcladdingshallbesuchastoavoidtheformationofbrittlephases. Jointpreparationshallbei

36、naccordancewithENISO96924. Cladsteelscanbecutusingnormalmethods;shearing(forthinplates)andplasmacuttingshouldbestartedfrom thecladdingside.Whenpreparingjointfaces,oxidation,hardeningandgeneralcontaminationfromthermalcutting processesshallbeeliminatedbymechanicalmachining(grinding)toasufficientdepthf

37、romthecutface.During shearing,crackingandworkhardeningcanoccur;ifany,thisshallberemovedpriortowelding. Mechanicaljointpreparationispreferable. Coldorhotformingoperationscanbecarriedoutoncladsteelsbythemanufactureasappropriate.Theprocessing treatmentandinstructionsaresuppliedbythemanufacturerorfabric

38、atorasappropriate. Hardstampingonthecladdingcauseshighlystressedand/orcorrosionsensitiveareasandshallbeavoided. Alloperationsleadingtotheformationofbrittlephasesinthetransitionzones,forexamplewhengrinding,shallbe avoided.EN10115:2003(E) 7 8Welding 8.1Weldingfrombothsides 8.1.1 Parentmetal Theparentm

39、etalshallfirstbeweldedaccordingtoanqualifiedweldingprocedure. Therootrunshouldnotpenetrateintothecladding. 8.1.2 Singlelayercladdingdeposits Thecladdingdepositshallbeweldedbyaqualifiedweldingprocedure.Allrequirementsconcerningthearcwelding ofdissimilarmetalsshallbeobserved. Asinglelayercladdingdepos

40、itmaybeappliedwhentheweldingprocedurehasbeenshowntoachievethe specifiedrequirements,especiallythechemicalcomposition.Theconsumablesusedforthisapplicationshallbe sufficientlyalloyedtocompensatethedilutionwiththeparentmetalandtomatchthespecifiedcharacteristics.The weldingconsumablesshallbeverifiedbyaq

41、ualifiedprocedureandtheyshallbeappropriatefortheapplication. Weldingprocesseswithlowpenetrationcharacteristicsarerecommended. 8.1.3 Multilayercladdingdeposits Thecladdingdepositshallbeweldedbyaqualifiedprocedure.Allrequirementsconcerningthearcweldingof dissimilarmetalsshallbeobserved. Forthebutterin

42、g(firstlayer),thesameprocedureasmentionedin8.1.2maybevalid. Thesubsequentrunsshouldbeweldedusingconsumableswithahigherorequalalloycontenttothatofthe cladding,orbeadequatefortherequirements. 8.1.4 Nonferrouscladdingdeposits Fornonferrousmetalsandhightemperature( 300C)applications,specialagreementinth

43、edesign specificationsshallbeprovided. 8.2Singlesidewelding Inthecaseofsinglesidewelding,thejointpreparationaccordingtoEN22553isgenerallyan“HU“ora“U“ preparationfortheparentmetalwiththerootfaceentirelywithinthecladding(seeENISO96924,reference numbers:8and9).Therootrunshallbeweldedusingaprocessandconsumablesappropriatefortheapplication. Theweldingconsumablesshallbeverifiedbyaqualifiedprocedureandtheyshallbeappropriateforthe application. Thefillingrun(s)shallbeweldedwithconsumablesandproceduresascommo
