28、tandard specifies the application dependent, IC card related characteristics for a payphone application. This European Standard does not define the application independent characteristics. They are defined and described in EN 726-3 and EN 726-4. This European Standard defines the operating procedure

29、s and the minimal cardphone requirements for the card related part of the payphone application. These will: simplify customer use through a common sequence; ensure the inter-European use of IC cards containing the payphone related applications. For this purpose, this Standard describes: how to ensur

30、e, through the payphone application, the entitlement to the invocation of telecommunication features and payment methods; how the payphone application detects which telecommunication features and payment methods are offered by the card; how the payphone application, or the user through the cardphone

31、, can select the different telecommunication features and payment methods offered by the card; the relation to the security module through the payphone; payphone application concepts; the payphone function, only in the sense of voice telephony. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorpora

39、sts of a set of security mechanisms, files, data, protocols (excluding transmission protocols), which are located and used in the IC card and outside the IC card (external application) 3.1.2 cardphone a cardphone is a payphone that accepts IC cards as a means of payment 3.1.3 external application en

40、tity, located in the external world, which communicates with the related Card Application during the sessionEN 1038:1995 4 BSI 11-1999 3.1.4 external world all application related entities outside the card 3.1.5 payphone a payphone is a terminal allowing access to telecommunication services after th

41、e insertion of the adequate means of payment. The basic service is to allow outgoing telephone voice calls whether or not it is able to receive incoming voice calls. Outgoing voice calls to certain services may be permitted without payment 3.2 abbreviations for the purposes of this standard, the fol

42、lowing abbreviations apply: 4 Application independent requirements 4.1 Physical requirements for the cardphone Refer to clause 4 of EN726-4:1994 for the following items: mechanical interface between Interface Device (IFD) and Integrated Circuit (IC) Card; contacting of the IC card; user/cardphone in

43、terface; magnetic stripe card reader; card holder verification module; acceptance of memory cards. 4.2 Electronic signals and transmission protocols Refer to clause 5 of EN726-4:1994 for the requirements for the electronic signals and the asynchronous transmission protocols between the IFD and the I

44、C card. 4.3 Description of commands supported by the cardphone Refer to clause 8 of EN 726-4:1994 for a description of the commands used by the payphone application. 5 Functional requirements for a cardphone This clause specifies the card-related requirements for a cardphone. 5.1 Environmental requi

45、rements The definition of the environmental requirements of the different types of payphones is out of the scope of this European Standard. 5.2 Card acceptance and reading The cardphone may be able to accept and to handle one or more types of cards intended for use in the payphone system. 5.3 Card a

46、uthentication and card holder verification (CHV) The cardphone shall be able to determine whether the card and the applications it contains are valid and accessible. If required the cardphone shall also offer the user the possibility to prove to the IC card whether he is the actual owner of the card

47、, or if he is allowed to use it. For this purpose a card holder verification facility can be incorporated in the cardphone (see4.5 of EN726-4:1994). 5.4 Secure information transfer The cardphone and the system shall, to the extent feasible, protect user information from disclosure to unauthorized pa

48、rties. A means for protecting and transferring information (e.g. call records) to other administrative areas for further processing is required. 5.5 User interface The user interface of a cardphone system consists of a number of separate but interrelated input and output functions, including card in

49、put and return, keyboard input, display output, function input or selection. These functions can be performed through physical, visual or audible media. The user interface of the cardphone system shall, to the extent feasible provide the user with guidance and error feedback, in relation to the IC card, via the cardphone. The cardphone shall also be able to accept information supplied by the user for use in relation with the IC card. This includes for exam
