This European Standard shall be given t

15、he status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2005, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2005. This document supersedes EN 1208:1997. Significant technical differences between thi

21、document is applicable to sodium calcium polyphosphate used for treatment of water intended for human consumption. It describes the characteristics and specifies the requirements and the corresponding test methods for sodium calcium polyphosphate. It gives information on its use in water treatment.

EN 1208:2005 (E) 8 4 Purity criteria 4.1 General This document specifies the minimum purity requirements for sodium calcium polyphosphate used for the treat

35、ment of water intended for human consumption. Limits are given for impurities commonly present in the product. Depending on the raw material and the manufacturing process other impurities may be present and, if so, this shall be notified to the user and when necessary to relevant authorities. NOTE U

36、sers of this product should check the national regulations in order to clarify whether it is of appropriate purity for treatment of water intended for human consumption, taking into account raw water quality, required dosage, contents of other impurities and additives used in the products not stated

37、 in this document. Limits have been given for impurities and chemical parameters where these are likely to be present in significant quantities from the current production process and raw materials. If the production process or raw materials leads to significant quantities of impurities, by-products

38、 or additives being present, this shall be notified to the user. 4.2 Composition of commercial product The product shall conform to the following requirements on a dry mass basis: phosphate content expressed as P 2 O 5: mass fraction of 61 % to 69 %; sodium content expressed as Na 2 O : mass fractio

39、n of 20 % to 30 %; calcium content expressed as CaO : mass fraction of 7 % to 15 %. 4.3 Impurities and main by-products The product shall conform to the requirements specified in Table 1. Prepare the laboratory sample(s) required by the relevant procedure described in ISO 8213. 5.2 Analyses 5.2.1

43、 Main product 5.2.1.1 Phosphate (main product) The determination of the concentration of phosphate (P 2 O 5 ) is carried out according to ISO 3357. 5.2.1.2 Calcium oxide (main product) The determination of the concentration of calcium oxide (CaO) is carried out according to ISO 5373. 5.2.1.3 Sodium

44、oxide (main product) 5.2.1.3.1 General The determination of the concentration of sodium oxide (Na 2 O) is carried out in accordance with the method of determination of sodium oxide (Na 2 O) and phosphate (P 2 O 5 ) ; calculation of molar ratio. 5.2.1.3.2 Principle Alkalimetric titration. Consumption

45、 of alkali to increase pH value from 4,45 to 9,22. EN 1208:2005 (E) 10 5.2.1.3.3 Reagents All the reagents shall be of a recognized analytical grade and the water used shall conform to grade 3 specified in EN ISO 3696 and shall be boiled and cooled immediately before use. 5.2.1.3.3.1 Sodium hydroxid

Add four drops of indicator (5.2.1.3.3.3). The colour corresponds to pH 4,45. Dilute 50 ml of sol
