This standard applies to hardwood and softwood sawn timber, both square-edged and unedged. This standard does not apply t

24、ce, graduated to an accuracy of at least 0,1 mm. 4.2 Methods of measurement 4.2.1 Square-edged timber Measure the thickness in a direction perpendicular to the face in at least three places. The places of measurement shall be clean and free from defects. Two of the measurements shall be taken near t

25、o, but at least 150 mm from the ends, the other(s) positioned at random between them. Record only the thinnest measured thickness, expressed in millimetres, to one decimal place. Note also the actual moisture content. 4.2.2 Unedged timber Measure the thickness once at each end, as close to an edge a

26、s possible. The places of measurement shall be clean and free from defects. Record only the thinner measured thickness, expressed in millimetres, to one decimal place. Note also the actual moisture content. 5 Width 5.1 Apparatus A measuring device, graduated to an accuracy of at least 1 mm. 5.2 Meth

27、ods of measurement 5.2.1 Square-edged timber Measure the width in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the piece in at least three positions. The places of measurement shall be clean and free from defects. Two of the measurements shall be taken near to, but at least 150 mm from the

28、ends, the other(s) positioned at random between them. Record only the narrowest measured width, expressed in millimetres, to one decimal place.
