26、 moisture content shall be carried out according to prEN 13183-1 or prEN 13183-2. The reference moisture content is 20 %. 5 Change in size due to changes in moisture content Unless there is evidence to the contrary, it is assumed that the thickness and width of a piece of timber will increase by 0,2
27、5 % for every 1 % of moisture content higher than 20 % up to 30 %, and will decrease by 0,25 % for every 1 % of moisture content lower than 20 %. The above values are independent of the species. | | | 6 Permitted deviations For a specified number of pieces of hardwood sawn timber of the same target
28、thickness and/or width, the average thickness and/or width shall not be less than the target thickness and/or width. If the timber is for structural use, the permitted deviations shall be those specified in EN 336. The permitted deviations, at a moisture content of 20 %, are the following. 6.1 On th
29、icknesses (t) t# 32 mm: 21 mm, +3 mm t 3 2m m : 2 2 mm, +4 mm The permitted deviations of thicknesses apply to all thicknesses, not only to preferred ones. 6.2 On widths (b) b# 100 mm: 22 mm, +6 mm 100 mm 200 mm: 24 mm, +12 mm 6.3 On lengths (l) For unedged timber and boules: 0, +3 % of the target l

The figures in Table NA.1 have been established in the United Kingdom as being economic, workable and not wasteful. NA.2 Reductions The recommended reductions appropriate to some end uses and products appear in Table
37、NA.1. Any finished sizes in British Standards covering particular hardwood products and components will take precedence over those in Table NA.1. For other end uses not specifically mentioned, the same figures as those for one of the end uses listed may be adopted. Intermediate figures would be unli
38、kely to achieve any greater accuracy and would tend to confuse. If the timber is for structural use, the reduction limits specified in BS 5756 apply. NA.3 Permitted deviations For all finished sizes after processing, permitted deviations of 0,5 mm are recommended. If the timber is for structural use
