It specifies types, main dimensi
19、ons and test conditions which have to be observed for safety reasons. A gangway serves as a walkway between ship and shore. 2 Normative references This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications. 23、er girder used as longitudinal supporting member of the gangway 3.3 anti-slip lug supporting element providing safety for the gangway to prevent it slipping overboard 3.4 wheel component providing support at and allowing longitudinal movement on the land adjacent to the vessel 3.5 walkway deck of th
24、e gangway 3.6 cross-member connection between the side stringers and support for the walkway 3.7 tread a batten or bulb fitted on the walkway perpendicular to its longitudinal axis 3.8 lashing bracket bracket for handling the gangway, securing the gangway on board and fixing hand rail and intermedia

The gangways are not expected to conf
27、orm to the design, compliance is only required in the case of dimensions specified and requirements as described in clauses4 to6. Edges rounded Rmin.1,5EN526:1993 4 BSI 12-1999 4.2 Strength 4.2.1 Gangway The gangway shall be designed to withstand a single load of200kg placed midlength on the gangway

NOTEThat corresponds to a load caused by3 persons standing at a distance of about1m from each other. 4.2.2 Guard rail At the upper end, guard rail stanchions shall withstand a load of at least300N being applied in any direction without causing permanent deformation. Hand rail and intermediate rail shall be tensioned in such a way that deflection does not exceed50mm when a load of200N is applied in the middle between two stanchions. 4.3 Skidproofing The surface walkway shall be skid
30、proofed. Additionally, treads (battens or bulbs) shall be provided, seeFigure 1, to give a better foothold when the gangway is inclined. The walkway shall ensure free drainage of water. 4.4 Buoyancy The complete gangway unit with guard rail shall be buoyant. 4.5 Handling For handling and lashing pur
31、poses, lashing brackets shall be fitted at each end and at each side of the gangway, seeFigure 1. The gangway shall not have burrs or other sharp edges which might cause injuries. The gangways weight shall not exceed the values indicated inTable 1. Table 1 Overall length and weight 5 Construction 5.
32、1 Gangway Components which are liable to wear and tear, such as anti-slip lugs, wheels or treads, shall be constructed in a way to allow easy replacement of parts. 5.2 End fittings 5.2.1 Anti-slip lug At the ships side, the underside of the gangway shall be provided with an anti-slip lug. The anti-s
33、lip lug shall be flush with the outer edges of the side stringers. 5.2.2 Wheels At the landward side, two wheels shall be positioned at the outer side stringers. 5.3 Guard rail 5.3.1 Arrangements of guard rail The guard rail shall be fitted at the right hand side of the gangway, seen from the landwa
34、rd side. 5.3.2 Stanchion with connector The guard rail stanchions shall be arranged at regular intervals and detachably fastened in bush-shaped connectors and shall be secured against unintentional withdrawal. The guard rail stanchions shall be provided with suitable rope guides according toFigure 1
35、, e.g.according to ISO3674:1976, Figure6, versiona). 5.3.3 Hand rail and intermediate rail The rail ropes shall be adjustably fastened to both ends of the side stringers, e.g.to the lashing brackets. 5.4 Materials Gangways can be constructed from aluminium, wood or other appropriate material. All wo
36、oden parts shall be durably protected and/or impregnated against inclement weather. Aluminium semi-finished products conforming to ISO209-1:1989, ISO209-2:1989 and ISO6361-2:1990 shall be selected. Side stringers made from dark material shall be marked at the upper surface with light-coloured, self-
37、adhesive and reflecting strip. 6 Testing Verification of the safety requirements for gangways is effected according to the specifications of this standard by visual examination and measurement carried out by authorized institutions. 6.1 Material testing Material testing is effected by verification o
38、f material certificates. 6.2 Strength testing The gangway shall be placed in a way that both ends are supported. Permanent deformation of any part of the gangway shall not be detectable after unloading. 6.3 Testing of guard rail Tests of deflection of the guard rail stanchions and those of hand rail and intermediate rail shall be carried out w
40、ith the nominal loads in accordance with4.2.2. 6.4 Testing of weight and buoyancy By weighing and testing in fresh water. 6.5 Visual test All other requirements shall be checked by visual test and practical test. 7 Designation Designation of a gangway having a length of6000mm conforming to this stan
41、dard: Gangway EN526 6000 8 Marking The gangway shall be marked by a name plate. The name plate shall be made of waterproof material and shall be durably fitted to the outside of the side stringer on the guard rail side between the first stanchion and the anti-slip lug. It shall contain at least the
42、following information in one of the three languages English, French or German: Single load(m=400kg) midlength on the gangway.Deflection shall notexceed2% of the gangways length.
