、by creating a high level of interchangeability of kitchen elements. It is based on the Gastro-Norm GN modular system developed by the European Committee of Standards for Collective Housekeeping as the result of standardization activities by organizations of gastronomy, hotel business and catering tr
、ade in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. This Part of this standard is concerned only with the dimensions of catering containers. However, all catering containers and their lids should be constructed so that they do not allow distortion in normal use when filled with food and flanges should support
、the weight of a container when it is filled with food. Containers should be of such a shape that they can easily be cleaned. 1 Scope This Part of this European Standard specifies the dimensions of flanged catering containers, perforated containers and lids, based on a module530mm 325mm. The containe
、rs covered in this standard are intended to be used with safe supports. NOTEprEN631-2 specifies safe supports. 1) 2 Definitions For the purposes of this European Standard the following definitions apply. 2.1 catering container container for use in the processes of storing, preparing, cooking, transp
、orting, issuing, serving and removing foodstuffs in catering operations 2.2 perforated catering container catering container with holes 2.3 perforated insertion container container used as an insertion element into another catering container, mainly in cooking processes 2.4 lid cover for a container
、 2.5 anti-spill lid lid, with a seal, to prevent spillage during the transport of liquid foodstuffs 3 Requirements 3.1 Basic module The basic module, nomenclature1/1, shall have the plan dimensions530mm 325mm. The dimensions and nomenclature of other standardized containers shall be derived from mul
、tiples and fractions of this basic module, see Figure 1. NOTEThe sizes given in Figure 1and Table 1are functional dimensions; they ensure the interchangeability of standard insertion elements. All other dimensions of individual units may be adapted to the requirements of their design. 3.2 Container
、dimensions Containers, including perforated containers, shall have the nominal dimensions given in Table 1and shown in Figure 1. The tolerances to be applied to the nominal dimensions given in Table 1 shall be as follows: i) mm for dimensions a and b; ii) mm for dimension h up to and including65mm;
、iii) mm for dimension h above65mm; iv) mm for dimension c. Dimensions a, b, h and c, see Figure 2, shall be measured in the middle and at both ends of the container using a measuring instrument accurate to0,1mm. NOTE 1A minimum of0,1%of production should be monitored to ensure continuing compliance
、with the requirements of this standard. NOTE 2Containers of any one size from a single manufacturer should nest one within the other and should not jam in normal use; to prevent such jamming, a shoulder or other appropriate construction feature may be incorporated into the design of the container. 3
、.3 Lids Lids shall not exceed the standardized dimensions for containers. Lids shall be shaped in such a manner that when placed on the appropriate container they will not move horizontally more than4mm in any direction unless specifically intended so to do. NOTE 1Lids from different manufacturers m
、ay not necessarily be interchangeable, due to differences in radii. NOTE 2Lids should allow the safe stacking of containers one above another. Anti-spill lids should prevent spillage of the contents of the container under normal transport conditions. 1) In preparation. 0 2 0 3 05 2,0 + 1,5 EN631-1:1
