For all the test specimens, calculate the arithmetic mean of Efor all the test specimens. Express the creep by the result obtained Em,in millimetres, to one decimal place. 9

、 specimen; e) the creep Em ; f) the appearance of the imprint on the two faces of the test specimen (extent of the fold, where applicable); g) any deviation from this standard which is likely to have affected the results.BSEN995:1996 BSI 11-1999 4 National annex NA (informative) Investigation of fac
、tors related to creep NA.1 Technical evidence The following technical evidence indicates that the results obtained from the test method are unrelated to those factors which occur as a result of creep of tile backing in an installation. Following the determination of creep, % E(designated Emin the EN
、 text), on six qualities of carpet tile (AtoF) as part of an inter-laboratory comparison, a further exercise was carried out to compare %E with parameters which would be relevant in use. It was felt that in a “use” situation, the creep-related factors of greatest importance to the user would be: a)
、depth of indentation following a suitable period of recovery; b) height of any rim or protrusion on the back of the tile; c) diameter of any rim on the back of the tile, since this would be related to lateral flow of tile backing material leading to possible adhesion between adjacent tiles; d) any v
、isual effects on the face of the tile. The following were measured and tabulated alongside %E: The following correlation coefficients were ascertained: NA.2 Conclusions NA.2.1 The low level loop tufted products showed least indentation after a period of recovery. The hair and velour products showed
、a more noticeable imprint. The visual effect did not have any obvious relationship with %E. NA.2.2 Rather surprisingly, the %E parameter appears to have a poor correlation with I F , H Rand D R , the measurable factors which would be important in a “use” situation. Moreover, the correlation is negat
、ive. The sample giving the greatest %E showed the lowest indentation after a period of recovery. This appears to be purely a function of the choice of carpet types used in the investigation. NA.2.3 The creep test described in EN995 gives results which appear to be largely unrelated to those factors
、which occur as a result of creep of tile backing in an installation. I F depth of indentation on face, measured at least 7 days after removal from the creep test (in mm); H R height of rim on back measured after 7 days (in mm); D R diameter of rim on back (in mm).
