34、tionofultrasonicwaves(generallylongitudinal),thedirectionofwhichis approximatelyperpendiculartothesurfaceoftheproduct.Theexaminationconsistsof:EN10307:2001(E) 6 a) locatingandevaluationofdiscontinuitybycomparingtheamplitudeofthediscontinuityechowiththeamplitude oftheechoofaflatbottomedholeofagivendi
35、ameterandlocatedatthesamedepthasthediscontinuity. NOTE Onlythosediscontinuitiesgivinganechoamplitudeequalorgreaterthanthatobtainedwiththereferenceflat bottomedholearetakenintoconsideration; b) determiningtheareaofthediscontinuityaccordingtothe6dBbeamwidthtechnique.Thewidthofthe discontinuityshallbed
36、eterminedperpendiculartotherollingdirection.Thelengthshallbedeterminedinthe rollingdirection. Ifareaswithparticularpermeabilityarelocated,thetestingconditionsshallbeadjustedinordertotesttheseareas withtherequiredsensitivitylevel. Theexaminationiscarriedoutduringthefirstultrasonicscan(firstbackwallec
37、ho)foralltheproductthicknesses andfromonesideonly. 6Procedure Theinspectionisnormallycarriedoutintheplaceofproductionoronthepremisesofthesupplier.Ifspecifiedon theorder,theinspectionmaytakeplaceinthepresenceofthepurchaserorhisrepresentative 1) . Ultrasonictestingshallbeperformedinaccordancewithawrit
38、tenprocedure.Wherespecifiedintheenquiryor order,thewrittenprocedureshallbesubmittedtothepurchaserforapprovalpriortotesting. Thiswrittenprocedureshallbeintheformof: a) aproductspecification;or b) aprocedurewrittenspecificallyfortheapplication;or c) thisEuropeanStandardmaybeusedifitisaccompaniedbyexam
39、inationdetailsspecifictotheapplication. Theprocedureshallcontainthefollowingdetailsasaminimumrequirement: a) descriptionoftheitemtobeexamined; b)reference documents ; c) qualificationandcertificationofexaminationpersonnel; d) stageofmanufactureatwhichtheexaminationiscarriedout; e) examinationzonessp

42、ersonnelinaccordancewithEN473orequivalent. 8 Ultrasonictestequipment 8.1Instrument InstrumentformanualtestingshallfeatureAscanpresentationandshallcomplywiththerequirementsof EN126681. 8.2Probe 8.2.1General TheprobesformanualtestingshallconformtotherequirementsofEN126682. Theprobeshallhaveafrequencya
43、nddimensionssuchthattherequiredsensitivitycanbesecuredthroughoutthe extentofthetestfield. Thesingletransducerprobesshallbesuchthattheirdeadzoneisassmallaspossible,i.e.15%oftheproduct thicknessor15mmwhicheveristhesmaller.Thefocusingzoneofthedoubletransducerprobesshallbeadapted totheproductthickness. 8.2.2 Nominalfrequency Theprobesshallhaveanominalfrequencyintherangeof1MHzto5MHz.Probesofanominalfrequencythatis outsidetherangeof1MHzto5MHzmaybeusedforautomaticorsemiautomatictestingand/orwhentheproduct exhibitshighattenuationprovidedthatthemain
