29、(earmuffsonly) 4.1.1Principle Theinsertionlossofeachcupoftheearmuffsismeasuredatspecifiedonethirdoctavebandcentrefrequencies.EN138192:2002(E) 6 4.1.2Apparatus Therequiredequipment,includingasuitableacoustictestfixtureandtestsite,isdescribedinEN248693.For helmetmountedearmuffs,asupportingpad,asshowni

30、nFigure1,shallbefittedtotheacoustictestfixturein orderadequatelytosupportthecompletehelmetmountedearmuffinposition. 4.1.3Procedure FollowtheproceduregiveninEN248693,subjecttothefollowingmodifications: a) Eithertherandomincidencesoundfieldortheplaneprogressivewaveshallbeused.Whenusingtheplane progres

31、sivewave,iftherequirementforinsertionlossisnotsatisfied,thetestshallberepeatedusingthe randomincidencefield.Iftherequirementforinsertionlossisthensatisfied,thisshallbedeemedtobethe definitiveresult; b) Theinsertionlossshallbemeasuredatallonethirdoctavebandsfrom250Hzto8000Hz; c) Themeanandstandarddev

32、iationofthevaluesreportedin4.1.3b)shallbereportedforallspecifiedcupsat eachfrequency; d) Inthecaseofuniversalearmuffstheinsertionlossshallbemeasuredinonlyonemodeofwearing, preferablyoverthehead; e) Ifmeanstoadjusttheheadbandforceisincorporated,theforceshallbeadjustedtoitsmaximumsetting; f) Inthecase

33、ofhelmetmountedearmuffs,foragivenmodelofearmuffsfittedtomorethanonesizeofthe samemodelofhelmet,insertionlossshallbetestedusingonlyonesizeofhelmet. 4.1.4Report Foreachcentrefrequencyandforeachcup,individualvaluesofinsertionlossshallbereportedinaccordancewith 4.1.3b).Forallcups,themeanvalueandstandard

34、deviation,shallalsobereportedinaccordancewith4.1.3b). 4.2Sound attenuation 4.2.1Principle Theattenuationofthehearingprotectorismeasuredatspecifiedonethirdoctavebandcentrefrequencies. 4.2.2Apparatus Therequiredapparatus,includingtestsitesandsoundfield,isspecifiedinEN248691. 4.2.3Procedure 4.2.3.1Meas

35、ureandpresentthesoundattenuationofdefinedspecimensinaccordancewithEN248691. 4.2.3.2Ifmeanstoadjusttheheadbandforceisincorporated,adjusttheforcetoitsminimumsetting. 4.2.3.3Inthecaseofearplugs,supplyeachsubjectwithaseparatepairofearplugsofappropriatesize. 4.2.3.4Inthecaseofahelmetmountedearmuffswhichd

36、onotfitallsizeranges,askeachtestsubjectifthe specimenfits.Ifitdoesfit,performthetest.Ifitdoesnotfit,rejectthesubjectfromthepanelandprovidea replacementforhim/her. 4.2.3.5Inthecaseofuniversalearmuffs,providesoundattenuationvaluesforeachintendedmodeofwearing. 39、e) Iftheconditionsind)arenotmet,thentheattenuationtestshallbecompletedusingthefinalsixtest subjectsandtheattenuationdatafortheothermodesshallbereportedasmeasured. 4.2.3.6 Inthecaseofhelmetmountedearmuffssupplementarycombinationswhichrequiresoundattenuationto bemeasured,performthemeasurementusingthed

40、efinedspecimensbutwiththefollowingamendmentstothe procedure: a) Performthemeasurementfirstusingonlytentestsubjects; b) CalculatethevaluesH,MandLinaccordancewithENISO48692with a =1; c) ComparethevaluesofH,MandLcalculatedforthebasiccombinationwiththosecalculatedin4.2.3.6b); d) IfthevaluesofHandMandLfo

41、rthesupplementarycombinationarewithin3dBofthecorresponding valueofthebasiccombination,nofurtherattenuationtestingshallbeperformed.Theattenuationdataforthe supplementarycombinationshallbedeemedtobeequaltothatofthebasiccombinationandtheattenuation dataforthebasiccombinationshallbeusedforthesupplementa

42、rycombination; e) Iftheconditionsind)arenotmet,thentheattenuationtestshallbecompletedusingthefinalsixtest subjectsandtheattenuationdataforthesupplementarycombinationshallbereportedasmeasured; f) Inthecaseofagivenmodelofearmuffsfittedtomorethanonesizeofthesamemodelofhelmet,test subjectsshallbeaskedto
