6、 outside of the longer handle (pointsP1 andP2 inFigure 1). 4.4 Clearance In order to allow crimping close to the body of large bodied connectors, the tool shall provide clearance in relation to the dies as follows, and as illustrated inFigure 2: a 20 mm square centred on the large die cavity shall b

7、e able to approach within0,4mm of the die face; a 40 mm diameter centred on the large die cavity shall be able to approach within2mm of the die face. 4.5 Locator The provision of a locator is permitted as a means of locating the centre contact of an RF connector during the crimping operation. 4.6 Op

8、erating force (full closure mechanism) The operating force for the full closure mechanism shall be tested as specified in6.6 of Part1. The dies shall be closed and a force shall be applied to the handles at a point30mm to35mm from their ends. The force required to operate the release mechanism shall

9、 be not less than20N.EN 50109-2-1:1995 4 BSI 03-2000 4.7 Operating force (crimping cycle) The operating force for the crimping cycle shall be tested as specified in6.7 of Part1. The appropriate test piece selected fromTable 2 shall be used and shall be crimped at the end of the test piece sleeve. Th

10、e compression force required to perform a crimping cycle, applied to the handles between pointsP1 andP2 (see4.3 andFigure 1) shall not be greater than425N. If the test piece is to be gauged subsequently, the crimping cycle shall be taken only to the point where the full closure mechanism allows rele

11、ase. 4.8 Overload force The crimping tool shall be designed such that it will pass the overload force test (6.8 of Part1) when a force of700N is applied to the handles between pointsP1 andP2 (see4.3 andFigure 1). 4.9 Crimping die cavities The crimping dies shall have die cavities in accordance withT

12、able 1 andFigure 2. 4.10 Die alignment With the dies closed but empty, misalignment of the dies shall not exceed0,25mm in any axis, and the A/F dimensions ofTable 1 shall be maintained. 4.11 Dynamic test Tool performance shall be assessed using the procedure of6.4. This provides a dynamic test compa

13、rable to normal operation. 5 Classification and designation 5.1 Tool style references The tools shall be designated by individual style references which shall consist of three elements, as follows: a) the number of this European Standard followed by a hyphen, i.e.EN50109-; b) the number of this Part

14、 followed by a solidus, i.e.2-1/; c) the die size code which consists of two letters, the first being the die size for the centre contact and the second being the die size for the outer ferrule (crimp sleeve), e.g.WD. EXAMPLE: Tool style reference EN50109-2-1/WD denotes crimping dies having two hexa

15、gon cavities,1,69mm and5,41mm across flats respectively (seeTable 1). 5.2 Marking 5.2.1 The tools shall be marked with the tool style reference (see5.1) in accordance with the requirements of5.1 of Part1. 5.2.2 In addition the crimping dies or the tool frame adjacent to the dies shall be marked with

16、 the size code letters, i.e.the third element of the tool style reference in accordance with5.1 c) andTable 1. 6 Test and acceptance requirements 6.1 General The requirements of clauses6 and7 of Part1 apply using the values specified inclause4 of this Part2-1. 6.2 Mechanical endurance The mechanical

17、 endurance shall be tested as specified in6.9 of Part1. The crimping tool shall be tested without a test piece in the dies and shall be subjected to10000 cycles of operation conducted at a rate of5 to10cycles per minute. An appropriate closing force shall be applied to the handles between pointsP1 a

18、ndP2 to ensure operation of the full closure release mechanism throughout the test. On the completion of each1000 cycles, the gauging procedure of6.4 shall be applied using six test pieces. No adjustment, repairs, cleaning or lubrication is permitted. 6.3 GO and NOT GO gauges The use of cylindrical

19、GO and NOT GO gauges for checking die cavity sizes is recommended as a routine method of test. In the event of defective crimps the requirement of6.4 shall be met. 6.4 Dynamic test procedure 6.4.1 Crimping dies other than those used for centre contacts shall be gauged using test pieces selected from

20、Table 2. Particular requirements for test pieces shall be as follows: sleeve material: copper in accordance with material to ISO designation Cu-ETP or Cu-FRHC, of hardness80-100HV5 measured in accordance with ISO6507, or alloy bar or seamless tube in accordance with material complying with ISO426-1

21、designation CuZn10. insert material: Grade A PTFE. 6.4.2 After crimping, the test pieces shall be visually examined for freedom from surface damage, cracks or flash. The across flats dimensions of the test pieces shall be measured, or checked with the appropriate gauge (seeFigure 4) selected fromTable 3. The measurement shall be made across all flats of the test piece.
