、TION Identification of the correct type of control valve for a particular industrial-process control valve application requires that information denoting significant parameters of the valve be located on the valve. The methods of marking the information, based upon provisions of EN 19 and ISO 5209,
、are described in this part of IEC 60534. Page3 EN605345:2004INDUSTRIAL-PROCESS CONTROL VALVES Part 5: Marking 1 Scope This part of IEC 60534 specifies mandatory and supplementary markings of control valves. Some mandatory markings may be inappropriate for some valves of special design, and some supp
、lementary markings may be appropriate only to specific types of control valves. It is recommended that the marking of all valves conform to this standard whenever possible unless otherwise agreed between the manufacturer and purchaser. Mandatory markings should be located in such a way that markings
、 remain permanent. Mandatory markings shall be integral with the valve body or on a marking plate (distinct from an identification plate) securely fixed to the body. The location of supplementary markings is also specified. Usually, these are on an identification plate. 2 Normative references The fo

、. 4.2.1 Mandatory markings on the valve body Markings which are listed in Table 1 as mandatory markings shall be integral markings or shall be on a marking plate, unless sufficient space is not available (see 4.2.4). Mandatory markings on the body include items 1 to 4 and item 22 of Table 1 which ap

、, as applicable. 4.2.3 Supplementary markings Markings listed as supplementary markings in Table 1 shall be marked on an identification plate which may be positioned at any convenient location on the control valve. If markings relate to characteristics likely to be changed by the user, it is desirab

Markings not listed in Table 1 which are appropriate to a valve may be added as supplementary markings as agreed between manufacturer
、 and purchaser. 4.2.4 Available space Where the physical size of a control valve governs the amount of space available for marking, control valves smaller than DN 50 (NPS 2) may omit the mandatory markings on the body in the order 1, 12, 3 should the available space preclude their inclusion on the b
、ody. In such cases, the markings shall be included on the identification plate described in 4.2.3. 4.2.5 Additional markings Additional markings may be used at the option of the manufacturer provided they do not conflict with any of the specified markings described above. A manufacturer having compl
、ied with the requirements listed above is not precluded from marking any item additionally in a place other than that specified. For example, a marking appearing on the body may also be repeated on the identification plate described in 4.2.3. 4.2.6 Special markings Control valves which have undergon
、e special treatment, such as valves for use with oxygen, valves for nuclear service, fugitive emissions, etc. should be identified by an appropriate marking in accordance with applicable standards or codes or as agreed between manufacturer and purchaser. 5 Marking symbols It is usually necessary due
、 to space limitations to use abbreviations for many materials employed in the manufacture of control valves. Wherever possible, it is preferable to use the ISO references, such as found in the various parts of ISO 7005. NOTE As an interim measure, it is possible to use symbols which are based on nat
、ional usage, but which have international recognition. A typical example would be: “CF8M” or “316” used for the specification of any 18 % Cr, 10 % Ni, 2,5 % Mo type of stainless steel.
