22、ope and object This part of IEC1119 applies to the properties of magnetic tapes used in the DAT cassette system. The purpose of this part is to specify the measurement methods and the minimum requirements applicable to these tapes. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain pro

23、visions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of IEC1119. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All normative documents are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this part of IEC1119 are encouraged to investigate the poss

26、 Mechanical characteristics of test equipment The tape transport shall be capable of operation at the normal speed of8,150mm/s 0,5%. The relative speed of the head to the tape shall be3,133m/s. 4.3 Electrical characteristics of test equipment Electrical characteristics of test equipment shall be in

27、accordance with IEC1119-1. 4.4 Calibration tape The calibration tape shall be in accordance with IEC1119-2. 4.5 Reference tape a) The reference tape is intended to be a reference only for the electrical parameters specified in clause5, which are important for system compatibility. b) Alignment of th

28、e recorder heads shall be such that conformity with the relevant IEC primary reference tape is obtained, in order to ensure compatibility of mass-produced domestic recorders and tapes. Compatibility properties of mass produced tapes shall conform to those of the reference tape. c) The reference tape

29、 is defined as a metal powder tape for the DAT cassette system, whose characteristics are approved by the DAT Conference. d) The reference tape is defined according to Table 1 below. 4.6 Condition of the tape to be tested The tape to be tested shall be fully erased (bulk erased). 5 Electrical parame

30、ters to be measured 5.1 RF optimum recording current The optimum recording current is the current required to record on the tape under test a square wave with frequency1/2T chthat results in maximum playback output level. It shall be expressed in dB as the ratio relative to the reference recording c

31、urrent. The optimum recording current of the reference tape is defined as the reference recording current. 33、 11-1999 5.2 RF output level The playback output level from a square wave with frequency1/2T ch(main data and sub data) recorded on the tape under test at reference recording current shall be measured. The same procedure shall be repeated for the reference tape. The output level of the tape under te

34、st shall be expressed in decibels as the ratio of the playback output level of the tape under test to that of the reference tape. The same procedure shall be repeated for the square wave with frequency1/72T chautomatic track-finding (ATF). 5.3 RF frequency response The playback output level of the s

35、quare wave with frequency1/8T chand the square wave with frequency1/2T ch(main data and sub data) recorded on the tape under test at reference recording current shall be measured. 38、requency1/2T chat the reference recording current (main data and sub-data). The original and the residual playback output levels of the1/8T chsignal shall be measured for the tape under test. The same procedure shall be repeated for the reference tape. The overwrite characteristic W is expressed by:

The playback output lev

40、el of the square wave with frequency1/2T chand the1/2,54T chnoise level (N tot ) are measured. The1/2,54T champlifier noise level (N amp ) is measured. 41、m m o 6 Mechanical and other parameters to be tested 6.1 Tape width The method of measurement of tape width shall be in accordance with IEC94-4. 6.2 Tape width fluctuation The fluctuation shall be defined as the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value obtained from the tape width

42、measurement. 6.3 Total tape thickness The method of measurement of total tape thickness shall be in accordance with IEC94-4. 6.4 Yield force (F3) The method of measurement of yield force shall be in accordance with IEC94-4. 6.5 Residual elongation The method of measurement of residual elongation sha
