It was derived by CENELEC from IEC 1229:1993, including amendments 1:1998, 2:2002 and corrigendum 1:2000, published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) a

8、nd prepared by IEC Technical Committee No. 78, Tools for live working. The CENELEC common modifications have been implemented at the appropriate places in the text. The start and finish of each common modification is indicated in the text by tags . Where a common modification has been introduced by

9、amendment, the tags carry the number of the amendment. For example, the common modifications introduced by CENELEC amendment A11 are indicated by . The start and finish of text introduced or altered by amendment is indicated in the text by tags . Tags indicating changes to IEC text carry the number

41、ope International Standard IEC 1229 is applicable to rigid insulating covers for live working on a.c. installations, including those described in IEC 743. The barriers, having dielectric withstand which depends on the positioning clearance, are excluded from this standard. 1.1 Classes Six classes of

42、 covers, differing in electrical characteristics, are provided and designated as class 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. 1.2 Categories Five categories of covers, differing in special properties related to acid, oil, extreme low temperature, extreme high temperature, and humidity are provided. They are designate

43、d A, H, C, W and P, respectively. 1.3 Types The type depends on the piece to be protected. 2 Normative references The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this International Standard.
