、264002:CEI 2 31 3 Conditioning Unless otherwise specified, test specimens shall be conditioned immediately prior to testing for at least 24 h in standard atmosphere B according to IEC 60212 at a temperature of 23 C 2 K, and a relative humidity of (50 5) %. Unless otherwise specified, each specimen s

、hall be tested in the conditioning atmosphere or the tests shall commence within 3 min of removal of each specimen from the conditioning atmosphere. 4 Dimensions 4.1 External dimensions 4.1.1 Test apparatus The external dimensions of rectangular tubes and rods and the distance between faces of a hex

、agonal rod shall be determined using an instrument capable of measuring with an accuracy of 0,02 mm or better. This may be either a screw type micrometer gauge or a slide gauge (Vernier caliper). In the case of a screw type micrometer, the measuring faces shall be 6 mm to 8 mm in diameter, flat to w

、ithin 0,01 mm and parallel to within 0,003 mm. Any other means of measurement which can be shown to give the same results is permissible but, in case of dispute, the screw type micrometer or the slide gauge shall be used. 4.1.2 Procedure 4.1.2.1 External dimensions of rectangular and square sections

、 In the as received condition, measure the two dimensions (distance between opposite faces of the rod or tube) in three different planes perpendicular to the axis. In general, the measure- ments shall be made in the middle and at each end of the tube or rod, but not less than 20 mm from the ends. Re

、cord the three results obtained for each of the two dimensions to the nearest 0,02 mm. 4.1.2.2 External dimensions of hexagonal sections In the as received condition, measure the distances between opposite faces of the rod in three different planes perpendicular to the axis. In general, the measurem

Record the three results obtained for each of the three dimensions to the nearest 0,02 mm. 4.1.3 Results In the case of a rectangular or square rod or tube, report the arithmetic mean, minimum and maximum values

、 in millimetres of the two dimensions of the rod or tube. In the case of an hexagonal rod, report the arithmetic mean, minimum and maximum values in millimetres of the distances between opposite faces of the rod. 4.2 Internal dimensions 4.2.1 Test apparatus The internal dimensions of square or recta

、ngular tube shall be determined using an instrument capable of measuring with an accuracy of 0,02 mm or better. This may be either a screw type micrometer gauge or a slide gauge (Vernier caliper). 9egaP 4002:211026NE Page6 BS EN 62011-2:2004-110264002:CEI 2 51 Any other means of measurement, which c

、an be shown to give the same results, is permis- sible, but in case of dispute, the screw type micrometer or the slide gauge shall be used. 4.2.2 Procedure In the as received condition, measure the two internal dimensions (distance between opposite internal faces of the tube) in a plane perpendicula

、r to the axis at each end of the tube. The dimensions shall be measured in three places approximately in the middle and close to the corners of the cross-section. Record the results obtained. 4.2.3 Results Report the arithmetic mean of the measurements taken for each of the two internal dimensions.

、Report also the minimum and maximum values measured. 4.3 Wall thickness 4.3.1 Test apparatus The wall thickness of square or rectangular tubes shall be determined using an instrument capable of measuring with an accuracy of 0,02 mm or better. This may be either a slide gauge (Vernier caliper) or a s

、crew type micrometer gauge with a pin foot, which allows measurements to be made close to the corners of the tube. Any other means of measurement, which can be shown to give the same results, is permissible but, in case of dispute, the screw type micrometer or the slide gauge shall be used. 4.3.2 Pr

、ocedure Measure the wall thickness of the tube in the as received condition. Measure at each end of the tube, the thickness of the four different walls close to the corners and approximately in the middle. Record the results obtained. 4.3.3 Results Report the arithmetic mean of the measured values t

、o the nearest 0,02 mm as the wall thickness of the tube. Report also the minimum and maximum values recorded. 4.4 Departure from straightness Applicable to all tubes and rods 4.4.1 Test specimens The test specimen shall be the tube or rod under test. Where appropriate, the tube or rod should be trim

、med to length so as to remove excess resin or flashing from the ends prior to carrying out the test. 4.4.2 Method The length of the tube or rod shall be measured in millimetres to the nearest 1,0 mm and recorded. The tube or rod shall then be placed with one face on a flat, horizontal surface. The t

、ube or rod is then turned so that each face in turn is in contact with the surface until the position where the ends are in contact with the surface and the maximum gap occurs. The tube or rod is then maintained in this position without applying any pressure, which may deform it. Measure the maximum

、 gap between the rod or tube and the flat horizontal surface, using feeler gauges or slip gauges. 01egaP 4002:211026NE Page7 BS EN 62011-2:2004-110264002:CEI 2 71 NOTE In the event that the centre of the tube or rod has a larger cross-section, and the ends do not touch the flat, horizontal surface,

、measure the gap at each end of the tube or rod, and record the difference of the two readings at the ends. 4.4.3 Results Report the maximum value obtained in millimetres to the nearest 0,1 mm as the departure from straightness of the rod or tube under test. The method of calculation for the permissible departure from straightness as function of the length is given in IEC 62011-3. 5 Mechanical tests 5.1 Flexural strength perpendicular to laminations (rods only) 5.1.1 General The flexural strength shall be determined by the method specified in ISO 178.
