、m applied thermal conditions FOREWORD 1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote international co-operation on all questions conc
、erning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications, Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC Publication(s)”). The
、ir preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates c
、losely with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by agreement between the two organizations. 2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international consensus of opinion on the rel
、evant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all interested IEC National Committees. 3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National Committees in that sense. While all reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the
、 technical content of IEC Publications is accurate, IEC cannot be held responsible for the way in which they are used or for any misinterpretation by any end user. 4) In order to promote international uniformity, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC Publications transparently to the maximu
、m extent possible in their national and regional publications. Any divergence between any IEC Publication and the corresponding national or regional publication shall be clearly indicated in the latter. 5) IEC itself does not provide any attestation of conformity. Independent certification bodies pr
、ovide conformity assessment services and, in some areas, access to IEC marks of conformity. IEC is not responsible for any services carried out by independent certification bodies. 6) All users should ensure that they have the latest edition of this publication. 7) No liability shall attach to IEC o
、r its directors, employees, servants or agents including individual experts and members of its technical committees and IEC National Committees for any personal injury, property damage or other damage of any nature whatsoever, whether direct or indirect, or for costs (including legal fees) and expen
、ses arising out of the publication, use of, or reliance upon, this IEC Publication or any other IEC Publications. 8) Attention is drawn to the Normative references cited in this publication. Use of the referenced publications is indispensable for the correct application of this publication. 9) Atten

、2016 5 MEASUREMENT PROCEDURES FOR MATERIALS USED IN PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES Part 1-5: Encapsulants Measurement of change in linear dimensions of sheet encapsulation material resulting from applied thermal conditions 1 Scope This part of IEC 62788 provides a method for measuring the maximum representati
、ve change in linear dimensions of encapsulation sheet material in an unrestricted thermal exposure as might or might not be seen during photovoltaic (PV) module fabrication. The standard does not take into account any resulting stresses which may develop due to restricted dimensional changes or fric
、tion during module fabrication. Data obtained using this method may be used by encapsulation material manufacturers for the purpose of quality control of their encapsulation material as well as for reporting in product datasheets. Data obtained using this method may be used by PV module manufacturer
、s for the purpose of material acceptance, process development, design analysis, or failure analysis. This method may also be used to examine other materials, such as backsheets and frontsheets as described in IEC 62788-2. Certain details of the test (including specimen size and substrate) are specif
、ied for that application in 62788-2. 2 Normative references The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are indispensable for its application. 45、ure and enthalpy of melting and crystallization ASTM C77806, Standard specification for standard sand 3 Principle Encapsulation material (in sheet form) may change dimensions when processed during the fabrication of a PV module. The change in dimensions is typically caused by stresses formed BS EN 6
、2788-1-5:2016 6 IEC 62788-1-5:2016 IEC 2016 in the encapsulant during its fabrication (e.g., extrusion). Subsequent changes during module fabrication (e.g., lamination, including: heating, cooling, and pressurization) can cause stress within the module that may result in deleterious phenomenon inclu
、ding: the formation of bubbles (voids), movement or fracture of internal components, or delamination of the encapsulation at its interface(s). A standardized characterization of the maximum change in dimensions is defined in this procedure. The change in dimensions is characterized on sand to minimi
、ze friction (or adhesion) to standardize the result. The stress and strain generated during module lamination are complicated by additional factors not considered here. The effects specific to the processing (lamination) procedure are not necessarily addressed with this procedure. 4 Apparatus The fo
、llowing equipment shall be utilized to perform the test: a) A die, scissors, or other cutting device that may be used to accurately cut-to-size the samples of encapsulation material. b) A soft-tipped marker or equivalent device used to indicate the specimen orientation relative to the encapsulation stock. c) A calibrated linear measuring device with the resolution of at least 0,5 mm.
