17、nitedKin gdom.ENISO14327:2004(E) 4 Introduction ThisEuropeanStandardenablestheweldabilitylobetobedeterminedforresistancespot,projectionandseam welding.Thisstandarddoesnotinvalidateproceduresforthedeterminationoftheweldabilitylobeortheirapproval documentsincurrentusewhichcompliedwiththenationalorInte

18、rnationalStandardsorregulationsexistingatthat time,providedtheintentofthetechnicalrequirementissatisfiedandthespecifiedapplication,itsperformanceand equipmentwithwhichitisperformedremainunchanged. Whenthisstandardisreferencedforcontractualpurposes,allquestionsrelatingtothespecificationand implementa

19、tionofweldingproceduresshouldbeagreedbetweenthecontactingpartiesatthetimeofenquiryorat thecontractstage. Ithasbeenassumedinthisstandardthattheexecutionofitsprovisionsisentrustedtoappropriatelytrained,skilled andexperiencedpersonnel. ForthequalityofweldedstructurestherelevantpartofENISO14554shouldbea

20、pplicable.Thespecificationof proceduresshouldfollowguidelinesasinENISO156095.ENISO14327:2004(E) 5 1Scope ThisEuropeanStandardspecifiesproceduresfordeterminingtheweldabilitylobeforproducingqualitywelds.The testsareusedinparticulartodeterminetheweldabilitylobeforcoated/uncoatedsteels,stainlesssteelsan

21、d aluminiumanditsalloysbutmayalsobeusedforothermetallicmaterials. Theaimofthisprocedureistoallowdeterminationoftherangeofweldingparameterswhichgiverisetoan acceptableweldqualityasdefinedwithinpreciselimits.Theprocedurecanbeusedtodetermine: a) Theinfluenceofelectrodematerial,electrodeshapeanddimensio

22、nsontheavailableweldingrangefora particularmaterialandweldingmachine. b) Theinfluenceofmaterialtypeandthicknessontheavailableweldingrangewhenusingaparticularcombination ofweldingelectrodesandweldingmachine. c) Theinfluenceofweldingmachinetype,orelectrodecoolingontheavailableweldingrangeforaparticula

29、rce 4 Weldabilitylobelimits Theweldabilitylobewilldefinetheavailableweldingconditionsintermsof: a) Weldcurrentandtimeataconstantelectrodeforce.Or: b) Weldcurrentandelectrodeforceataconstantweldtime. Inthecaseofresistanceseamwelding,weldingspeed(m/min)isusedinsteadofweldtime. Tomeettheserequirements,

30、theweldabilitylobescanbeatwodimensionalplotasindicatedina)andb)aboveora threedimensionalplotindicatingtheinterrelationshipbetweenweldtime(weldingspeedinthecaseofseam welding),weldingcurrentandelectrodeforce. Forthepurposeofthisstandard,thelowerandupperlimitsoftheweldabilitylobeshouldbeasfollows: 1)

31、LowerlimitThisequatestotheweldingconditionswhichresultinawelddiameterequalto3,5 twhere tequal sheetthicknessinmm.Inthecaseoftwodissimilarthicknesses,“ t“referstothethinnersheet. NOTE1 Alimitotherthan3,5 tmaybeacceptablebyagreementbetweencontractingpartiesprovidedthestrengthoftheweld orweldedassembly

32、satisfythenecessarydesignrequirements. NOTE2 GuidelinesformeasuringwelddiameterforbothplugandinterfacefailurearegiveninENISO14329.Theweld diametershouldbemeasuredfromabrokenspecimen,e.g.peeltest. 33、omdesignprocessrequirements. 2) UpperlimitThiscorrespondstotheweldingconditionswhichgiverisetointerfacialsplashinthecaseofspot andprojectionwelding.Inseamweldingthelimitcorrespondstosurfacesplashorsurfacecrackingintheweldor heataffectedzoneareas. NOTE4 Alternativecriteriamaybespecified,suchasthemini

34、mumvalueoftheshearforcethattheweldcanwithstandbased onrecommendationsmadeinISOorproductstandardsinthecaseofcoated/uncoatedsteels.Minimumsurfaceindentationorthe amountofweldnuggetpenetrationcanbespecifiedbyagreement. Inthecaseofresistanceseamwelding,otherintermediatelimitsmaybechosenbasedonalternativ

35、eweldsizesor theonsetofsurfacecracking.Theuseofsuchlimitsdependontheapplicationbeingweldedandshouldbeby agreementbetweencontractingparties. TypicalweldabilitylobesareshowninFigure1.ENISO14327:2004(E) 7 5 Testequipment 5.1 Weldingelectrodes 5.1.1 General Theweldingelectrodesshallconformtoalloysspecif

36、iedinISO5182unlessotherwiseagreedbetweencontracting parties.Electrodesshouldbeofsufficientcrosssectionalareaandstrengthtocarrytheweldingcurrentandelectrode forcewithoutoverheating,deformationorexcessivedeflection. 5.1.2 Spotwelding Inthecaseofspotwelding,theelectrodedimensionsshallconformtotherequir

37、ementsofISO5184,ISO5821and ISO5830whereapplicable.Alternativeelectrodeshapesanddimensionsmaybeusedbyagreementbetween contractingparties.Preconditionedelectrodesshouldbeusedforeachindividualweldabilitylobedetermined. Electrodesshallbepreconditionedassummarisedbelow.Whereappropriate,dimensionsofthewat

38、ercooling holesandpipesshallcomplywiththerelevantrequirementsoftheappropriateISOstandard. NOTE Itisrecommendedthatthewaterflowshouldbeaminimumof4l/minperelectrodealthough,higherflowratesare recommendedwhenweldingcoatedsteels.Thewatercoolingfeedtubeshouldbearrangedtoimpingethewaterontotheback faceoft

39、heelectrode.Thedistancebetweenthebackandtheworkingfaceoftheelectrodeshouldnotexceedthevaluesgiveni n theappropriateISOstandard.Separatewatersuppliesshouldbeusedfortopandbottomelectrodesandshouldbeindependentof othercoolingcircuits.Itisrecommendedthattheinletwatertemperatureshouldnotexceed20 C(293 K)

40、andtheoutlet temperatureshouldnotexceed30 C(303K)(exceptwhenwatercoolingtemperatureistheparameterbeingstudied).Higher inlet/outletwatertemperaturescanbeusedbyagreementbetweencontractingparties. Bothtopandbottomelectrodesshallbeproperlyalignedpriortocommencementofthetest.Theelectrodefaceofthe topandb

41、ottomelectrodesshouldbeparalleltoeachotherandhaveanelectrodediameterthatiswithinthespecified tolerancesofthediametercalledforanygivensheetthicknessorthatagreedbetweenthecontractingparties. Alignmentofelectrodesshouldbecheckedusingcarbonimprints. Whenweldinguncoated/coatedsteelsandstainlesssteels,the

42、weldingelectrodesshouldbepreconditionedfor 50weldspriortodeterminingtheweldabilitylobe.Preconditioningshouldbecarriedoutatanominalweldtimeof approximatelye.g.8cyclesat50Hzonuncoatedsheetsinthesamematerialandwiththesamethickness.Forpre conditioningaweldingcurrentequaltothatwhichgivesastuckweldconditi

43、onoraweldofdiameterequalto3 t shouldbeused.Whenweldingaluminiumandaluminiumalloys,preconditioningofelectrodesshouldnotbecarried out. 5.1.3 Seamwelding Inthecaseofwidewheelseamwelding,theelectrodefacedimensionsshallconformwiththerequirementsof ISO693andfollowsimilarcriteriaasusedforspotwelding,i.e.treadwidthequal5 t.However,forthinwheelseam welding,alternativeelectrodedimensions,i.e.electrodethicknessandfacedimensions,maybeusedbyagreement betweencontractingparties.Theweldingwheelsshouldbepreconditi
