18、csorsquarepieces,underdefinedconditions.Specimensmaybe mouldeddirectly,cutfromsheetsortakenfromfinishedproducts.Differenttypesoftestspecimensandtest conditionsaredefined. Thesefalling-dartmethodsareusedtoinvestigatethebehaviourofplasticsheetingormouldingsundertheimpact ofastrikerappliedperpendicular
19、totheplaneofthespecimen. ThispartofISO6603canbeusedifitissufficienttocharacterizetheimpactbehaviourofplasticsbyathreshold valueofimpact-failureenergybasedonmanytestspecimens.ISO6603-2isusedifaforce-deflectionorforce-time diagram,recordedatnominallyconstantstrikervelocity,isnecessaryfordetailedcharac
20、terizationoftheimpact behaviour. Thesetestmethodsareapplicabletospecimenswithathicknessbetween1mmand4mm. NOTE Forthicknesseslessthan1mm,ISO7765shouldpreferablybeused.Thicknessesgreaterthan4mmmaybe testediftheequipmentissuitable,butthetestfallsoutsidethescopeofISO6603-1andISO6603-2. Thesemethodsaresu

Thesemethodsarealsoapplicabletospecimenswhichareeithermouldedormachi

Thetestresultsarecomparableonlyiftheconditionsofpreparationofthespecimens,theirdimensionsand surfacesaswellasthetestconditionsarethesame.Inparticular,resultsdeterminedonspecimensofdifferent thicknesscannotbecomparedwithoneanother(seeannexEofI
24、SO6603-2:).Comprehensiveevaluationofthe reactiontoimpactstressrequiresthatdeterminationsbemadeasafunctionofimpactvelocityandtemperaturefor differentmaterialvariables,suchascrystallinityandmoisturecontent. Theimpactbehaviouroffinishedproductscannotbepredicteddirectlyfromthistest,butspecimensmaybetake
25、n fromfinishedproducts(seeabove)fortestbythesemethods. EN ISO 6603-1:2000ISO-30661:(0002)E 2 Testdatadevelopedbythesemethodsshouldnotbeusedfordesigncalculations.However,informationonthe typicalbehaviourofthematerialcanbeobtainedbytestingatdifferenttemperaturesandimpactvelocities(see annexDofISO6603-
26、2:),byvaryingthethickness(seeannexEofISO6603-2:)andbytestingspecimens preparedunderdifferentconditions. TwostatisticalmethodsoftestaredescribedinthispartofISO6603: MethodA:staircasemethod(individual)(preferred) Inthismethod,auniformenergyincrementisemployedduringtesting.Theenergyisdecreasedorincreas
