BSI 2006 1BS F 153:20061 ScopeThis British Standard specifies requirements for an oil resistant silicone rubber material possessing excellent ozone resistance properties intended for the production of items such as sheet, mouldings and certain extrusion

12、s, for use in fluid sealing applications where low compression set is of prime importance. The material is suitable for contact with heavy mineral and certain diester based oils over the temperature range p65 C to 150 C1).For applications in air the material is suitable over the temperature range p6

13、5 C to 250 C.This material standard is to be used in conjunction with BS EN 3207.NOTE 1 Material and products manufactured from this specification, when used in fluid sealing applications, may be used up to 200 C for short intermittent periods.NOTE 2 Material and products manufactures from this spec

14、ification are not intended for use in contact with petroleum based fuels, light mineral oils or greases derived from them.NOTE 3 Further information on the suitability of silicone rubber for design applications can be found in SBAC Technical Specification No. 97 1.NOTE 4 Marking BS F 153:2006 on or

23、er many (poly) individual units (mer) of one or more monomers3.2 vulcanizationthermosetting reaction involving the use of heat and pressure, resulting in greatly increased strength and elasticity of rubber-like materials4Material4.1 Material compositionSilicone polymer shall consist of a homogeneous

24、 mix of recognized rubber quality products suitably compounded and cured to meet the requirements of this specification. No reclaimed or ground vulcanized waste shall be used in the mix.4.2 Manufacturing controlSilicone rubber material and products manufactured from this material shall be formulated

25、 and manufactured to issue controlled documentation, which shall form part of the contract between purchaser and manufacturer.Changes to the formulation or manufacturing process shall not be made without due consideration being given that the modified material/product meets all the requirements of t

26、he standard. BSI 2006 3BS F 153:20064.3 Classification and gradesMaterial shall be supplied in four nominal hardness grades: Grade 50; Grade 60; Grade 70; Grade 80.Material or products manufactured to a nominal hardness grades other than those specified shall, with the exception of hardness, meet al

27、l the requirements of this specification specified for the grade embracing the nominal hardness value. Tolerances, if required tighter than those specified within this specification, shall not be tighter than 3.NOTE For example, where a hardness of 65 is specified, the requirements of Grade 60 apply

28、 as the value of 65 lies within the 56 to 65 hardness range of Grade 60.5PropertiesMaterial manufactured in accordance with Annex A shall meet the requirements specified in Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4.The first production batch and every subsequent 10th batch of material shall be fully tested in accordance

39、 20067.3 Determination of hardness7.3.1 As manufactured materialDetermination of hardness shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A26, Method N on a specimen extracted from the thicker portion of the test sheet and superimposed upon the thinner section of the same sheet during test. 7.3.2 Befor

40、e and after heat ageingDetermination of the effects of heat ageing on the hardness of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A26, Method N by testing two plies of the thinner section of the test sheet superimposed upon each other. Tests shall be carried out prior to and after acce

41、lerated heat ageing.7.4 Determination of densityDetermination of the density of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A1, Method A.7.5 Determination of tensile strength and elongation at break7.5.1 As manufactured materialDetermination of the tensile strength and elongation at br

42、eak shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 37 using Type 2 dumb-bell specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet.7.5.2 Before and after heat ageingDetermination of the effects of heat ageing on the tensile strength and elongation at break shall be conducted in accordance wit

43、h BS ISO 37 using Type 2 dumb-bell specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet. Tests shall be carried out prior to and after accelerated heat ageing.7.6 Determination of compression setDetermination of compression set shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A6 using Type B s

44、pecimens extracted from the thicker section of the test sheet or on moulded cylindrical buttons. The specimens shall be subjected to (150 2) C for 240p2h.7.7 Determination of tear strengthDetermination of tear strength shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 34-1, Method C on specimens extracte

45、d from the thinner section of the test sheet.7.8 Determination of volume changeDetermination of the effect of volume change of the material after immersion in fluids shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 1817. 46、ity assurance documentation for each batch of material or manufactured products shall be in accordance with BS EN 3207.8.2 Rubber products8.2.1 ManufactureRubber products shall be manufactured from material conforming to the requirements of this specification.8.2.2 Sampling8.2.2.1 GeneralThe rate of

47、 sampling of products and the method of test shall be agreed between the purchaser and the manufacturer and shall include the following.8.2.2.2 Mechanical propertiesRequirements of tests carried out on test specimens extracted from products shall be agreed between purchaser and manufacturer if not c

48、onforming to the requirements of Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4. The type of test specimen and the method of extraction and preparation shall be agreed between purchaser and manufacturer and documented.8.2.2.3 Physical propertiesProducts shall be smooth and free from surface imperfections, porosity, voids, in

49、clusions, flow marks or inadequate joint of moulding blank and other defects that would impair satisfactory performance.NOTE Items may be specified with shallow cloth marking on one or more surfaces.8.2.2.4 Chemical testsAt a frequency agreed between the purchaser and manufacturer, chemical analysis test may be carried out to show composition conformance to Clause 4 of this specification.8.2.3 Dimensional propertiesDimensions and tolerances of moulded p
