BSI 2008 1BS F 156:20061 ScopeThis British Standard specifies requirements for fluid resistant ethylenepropylene rubber material with excel

12、lent ozone resistance properties intended for the production of items such as sheet, mouldings and certain extrusions, for use in sealing operations where low compression set is of prime importance while in contact with phosphate ester hydraulic fluids over a temperature range of p60 C to 100 C, or

13、with silicone hydraulic fluids over a temperature range of p60 C to 130 C1).For applications in contact with air, the material may be suitable for use over a temperature range of p60 C to 120 C.NOTE 1 Material in contact with phosphate ester hydraulic fluids may be exposed to temperatures up to 130

14、C for intermittent periods, and material in contact with silicone hydraulic fluids exposed to temperatures up to 160 C for intermittent periods.NOTE 2 Materials and products manufactured from this material are unsuitable for use in contact with fuels, mineral oil based and di-ester oils and silicate

24、) individual units (mer) of one or more monomers3.2 vulcanizationthermosetting reaction involving the use of heat and pressure, resulting in greatly increased strength and elasticity of rubber-like materials4Material4.1 Material compositionMaterial shall consist of an ethylenepropylene copolymer or

25、ethylenepropylenediene terpolymer homogeneous mix of recognized rubber quality products suitably compounded and cured to meet the requirements of this specification. No factice, reclaimed or ground vulcanized waste shall be used in the mix.4.2 Manufacturing controlEthylenepropylene rubber material a

26、nd products manufactured from this material shall be formulated and manufactured to issue controlled documentation, which shall form part of the contract between purchaser and manufacturer.Changes to the formulation or manufacturing process shall not be made without due consideration being given tha

27、t the modified material/product meets all the requirements of the standard. BSI 2008 3BS F 156:20064.3 Classification and gradesMaterial shall be supplied in five nominal hardness grades: Grade 50; Grade 60; Grade 70; Grade 80; Grade 90.Material or products manufactured to a nominal hardness grades

28、other than those specified shall, with the exception of hardness, meet all the requirements of this specification specified for the grade embracing the nominal hardness value. Tolerances, if required tighter than those specified within this specification, shall not be tighter than 3.NOTE For example

29、, where a hardness of 65 is specified, the requirements of Grade 60 shall apply as the value of 65 lies within the 56 to 65 hardness range of Grade 60.5PropertiesMaterial manufactured in accordance with Annex A shall meet the requirements specified within Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4.The first production ba

39、ture ageing in accordance with BS ISO 188 for (168 2) h at (125 2) C.7.2 Fluid immersionTest specimens, when required, shall be subjected to immersion in tri-n-butyl phosphate test fluid of density 0.975 to 0.976 Mg/m3, refractive index 1.424 to 1.425, and acidity 0.15% max measured as H3PO4in accor

40、dance with BS ISO 1817 for 480p2h at (100 2)C.7.3 Determination of hardness7.3.1 As manufactured materialDetermination of hardness shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A26, Method N on a specimen extracted from the thicker portion of the test sheet and superimposed upon the thinner section o

41、f the same sheet during test. 7.3.2 Before and after heat ageingDetermination of the effects of heat ageing on the hardness of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A26, Method N by testing two plies of the thinner section of the test sheet superimposed upon each other. Tests sha

42、ll be carried out prior to and after accelerated heat ageing.7.3.3 After immersion in fluidsDetermination of the effects of immersion in fluids on the hardness of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A26, Method N by testing two plies of the thinner section of the test sheet sup

43、erimposed upon each other during test. The tests shall be conducted prior to and after immersion.7.4 Determination of densityDetermination of the density of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A1, Method A. BSI 2008 7BS F 156:20067.5 Determination of tensile strength and elonga

44、tion at break7.5.1 As manufactured materialDetermination of the tensile strength and elongation at break shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 37 using Type 2 dumb-bell specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet.7.5.2 Before and after heat ageingDetermination of the effect

45、s of heat aging on the tensile strength and elongation at break of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 37 using Type 2 dumb-bell specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet. Tests shall be carried out prior to and after accelerated heat ageing.7.5.3 After imm

46、ersion in fluidsDetermination of the effects of immersion in fluids on the tensile strength and elongation at break of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 37 using Type 2 dumb-bell specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet. Tests shall be carried out prior

47、to and after accelerated heat ageing.7.6 Determination of compression setDetermination of compression set shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A6 using Type B specimens extracted from the thicker section of the test sheet or on moulded cylindrical buttons. The specimens after compression sha

48、ll be subjected to (100 1) C for 240p2h.7.7 Determination of resistance to low temperatureDetermination of the temperature of modulus rigidity of the material shall be conducted in accordance with BS 903-A13 on specimens extracted from the thinner section of the test sheet.7.8 Determination of volum

49、e changeDetermination of the effect of volume change of the material after immersion in fluids shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 1817.7.9 Determination of freedom from corrosion or adhesion to metalsDetermination of freedom from corrosion or adhesion to metals shall be conducted in accordance with BS ISO 6505. The specimens shall be subjected to a test temperature of (125 1) C for (168 2) h using aluminium and mild steel standard test met
