、holders for aircraft lamps having single centre contact (B15s) caps and miniature centre contact (BA9s) caps, intended for use in atmospheric pressures down to522 millimetres of mercury equivalent to an altitude of10000ft(3048 m). The lampholders are suitable for use on systems of nominal voltages u

、p to28volts; they may be used on other nominal voltages subject to the following individual maximum limitations, which apply independently of each other: B15s:2amp,250V r.m.s. a.c.,60watts. BA9s:1amp,50V r.m.s. a.c.,10watts. Although BA lampholders are not recommended for general use in circuits ope

、rating at more than50volts, with neon indicator lamps BA9s lampholders may be used on nominal system voltages up to200V r.m.s. a.c., subject to a series ballast resistor being connected externally to the centre contact of the lampholder. Outline drawings of preferred lampholders are shown, but these

、 are not intended to restrict the development of types offering alternative installational facilities such as batten mounting. Section 1. Design requirements 2 Materials and finish a) The shells of the lampholders shall be of metal. Insulating components shall be of non-tracking material and of low

、flammability. b) The materials shall comply with the relevant requirements of BS2G100-1, Clause105, and with Clause16 of this BritishStandard. 3 Dimensions The clearance and creepage distances, and the dimensions and positions of the bayonet slots and of the contact plunger shall be as specified in

、BS52; other essential dimensions shall be in accordance with Figure 1 or Figure 2 of this BritishStandard. 4 Construction a) The lampholder shall be constructed so that it grips the lamp cap in such a way that there is no relative movement between the dummy lamp cap and the lampholder shell under th

、e conditions of the vibration test (Clause14). b) Spring contacts shall be arranged so that the terminals do not move when a lamp is inserted. The contact pressures shall be not less than1kg and not more than1.5kg for B15s lamps, and not less than0.75kg and not more than1kg for BA9s lamps. c) For B1

、5s lampholders the principal current path to the centre contact shall be other than via the spring in the plunger assembly. d) Means shall be provided to prevent the lampholder rotating in its mounting. e) Terminal connections shall accept at least two pre-insulated ring-type crimped tags of No.6 UN

、C size. 5 Electrical performance The lampholder shall satisfy the requirements of the high voltage, insulation resistance, and contact resistance tests specified in Clauses10, 11 and12. 6 Environmental requirements The lampholder shall comply with the relevant requirements of BS2G100 in respect of m

、echanical and physical environmental conditions and of freedom from magnetic interference. The grading of the lampholder for vibration, acceleration and climatic performance shall be: Section 2. Tests 7 General Tests shall be made to prove compliance with all the requirements of this BritishStandard

、 Three kinds of test are specified as follows: Type tests. Clauses8 to16. These shall be made in the order given on representative lampholders of each particular design, as specified in Clause8. Production tests. Clauses17 to19. These shall be made on every lampholder in the order given. Quality te

、to13. Six of the samples shall then be subjected to the vibration and acceleration tests specified in Clauses14 and15 and then to the combined temperature, pressure and humidity tests specified for Class1 equipment in BS2G100. The remaining six lampholders shall be subjected to the tropical exposure

、 test also specified in BS2G100. 9 Physical check The lampholder shall comply with Clauses2, 3 and4. 10 High voltage test The lampholder shall withstand a test voltage of1000volts r.m.s. applied for one minute between the centre contact and the shell. 11 Insulation resistance test The insulation res

、ontact terminal shall be not more than100millivolts at1amp. 13 Compass interference test The compass safe distance relative to the lampholder shall be measured in accordance with BS2G100 and declared. 14 Vibration test The lampholder shall be subjected to the Grade A vibration tests specified in BS2

、G100. The appropriate dummy lamp shown in Figure 3 shall be in the lampholder throughout the tests. The contact resistance test (Clause12) shall constitute the functioning test required during the vibration tests. Voltage drop shall be measured at the beginning and end of the tests and at every chan
