In a channel along either the bottom or top edge of the microfilm. Images may be in either simplex or duplex format as defined in ISO 619

22、6-2. Either format can be used in either the lower (A) channel or the upper (B)channel. For single channel use, the lower, channel A, is more often used. In two channels, channel A along the bottom edge of the microfilm and channel B along the top edge. Imagemarks start from the start of the film in

23、 channel A, run with increasing count to the end of the film, then continuefrom the end of the film back to the start of the film in channel B.” Document images shall not extend to less than 2,16 mm from the film edge if an image mark channel is used along that edge (see Figure 2). 2 Dimensions in m

25、osition of image marksEach image mark shall be entirely within the image mark channel.The image mark shall be positioned in the image mark channel, in either of the following positions:a) with its leading edge aligned with the leading edge of the document image;b) with its leading edge between the l

26、eading edge and trailing edge of the document image in a consistent position.Position a) is strongly preferred.If a large image mark extends beyond the trailing edge of the document image, its leading edge shall align with theleading edge of the document image.SpacingThe space between image marks sh

27、all be not less than (see Figure 2).5 Dimensions of image marksLengthThe lengths of single-size image marks and small, medium and large image marks shall be as shown in Table 1. Thelength of each type of image mark shall be uniform throughout the microfilm.HeightThe height of the image mark measured

28、 across the film shall be a minimum of but not exceed andmay not extend beyond the allowable channel width. 30、 devices. For example opaque tape is not permitted.4.4The distance from the leading edge of the image mark to the leading or trailing edge of the document image, whichever is selected as the reference edge of the document image, measured parallel to the edge of the microfilm,shall be uniform within

31、0,15 mm throughout the roll of microfilm. 4.5Image marks shall be either single size marks throughout the microfilm, or small and medium marks throughout the microfilm or small, medium and large marks throughout the microfilm. The latter two options allow more sophisticated searches. Medium and larg

32、e marks as a combination is not recommended.5.1 Types of image mark 5.25.35.4 Image mark positioning An image mark shall be positioned such that it at least covers an area that is not greater than 1,02 mm from theedge of the microfilm to not less than 1,86 mm from that edge. It shall not extend more

33、 than 2,16 mm from thatedge (see Figure 2). 4 7 Microfilm control code7.1 GeneralMicrofilm control code is machine-readable code used in some retrieval equipment to identify the roll of microfilm andto control or modify the operation of the equipment. It may comprise start codes, stop codes and data

34、 codesenclosed on the microfilm in various combinations of image marks and spaces.7.2 Code characteristics7.2.1 Density, code channel and polarityDensity, code channel and polarity shall conform to the specifications for image marks.7.2.2 Start codes7.2.3 Stop codes7.2.4 Data codesData codes shall b

35、e located between the start and stop codes and shall consist of image marks and spaces of thesame length as those specified for small, medium or large image marks.8 SymbolsIf symbols are used, they shall occupy one or more frames at the beginning of the roll before the start code.Images of symbols s
