16、itime Organization (IMO)Life-Saving Appliances (LSA) Code, and related IMO instruments, to assess the conformity of the production ofvarious types of approved position-indicating lights with the relevant IMO requirements.Some of the provisions of this International Standard exceed the IMO requiremen

17、ts, in that the IMORecommendation on Testing of Life-Saving Appliances Resolution A.689(17), as amended through Res.MSC.81(70), does not provide any specific requirements for testing and inspection of production units.However, Part 2 of that document does require manufacturers to institute a quality

18、 control procedure to ensurethat life-saving appliances are produced to the same standard as the prototype approved by the maritime safetyadministration, and to keep records of any production tests carried out.This International Standard specifies procedures that meet the above requirements; thus by

20、ndard specifies production tests and inspections, and marking requirements for position-indicating lights used in conjunction with various items of life-saving equipment, including survival craft interiorlights. Specifically, it applies to position-indicating lights which have been type approved by

21、or on behalf of anational maritime safety administration, to the requirements of the International Maritime Organization LSACode, for use in ships subject to the requirements of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea(SOLAS), 1974 (as amended). The basic principles may also be con

22、sidered suitable for position-indicatinglights manufactured to other than the IMO requirements.2 Normative referencesThe following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. 26、re that seriesproduction units are manufactured according to substantially the same production methods, from the samematerials and according to the same quality standards as the prototypes tested for approval by or on behalf ofa national maritime safety administration.NOTE 1 Clause 4 is not intended

27、 to inhibit refinements of manufacturing processes, which do not adversely affect the endproduct.NOTE 2 Compliance with a quality management system such as ISO 9001:2000 is recommended.4.1.2 Recommended production testing and inspection procedures constituting an effective manufacturingquality contr

28、ol system are contained in Annex A.4.1.3 The maximum number of production units in a production lot shall be 1 000 units or one weeksproduction, whichever is less. In the case that the manufacturing process/system is in accordance withISO 9001:2000, the maximum production lot quantity may be raised

29、to 5 000 units or one weeks production,whichever is less.4.2 Visual appearance and craftsmanshipPosition-indicating lights used as life-saving appliances shall be free from imperfections of manufacture thataffect their appearance, or that may affect their serviceability.4.3 Marking4.3.1 GeneralEach

30、production unit shall be clearly and indelibly marked by the manufacturer with the following information:a) type or model identification, including intended use;b) identification and relevant approval mark of approving administration(s), and any operational restrictions;c) date of manufacture;d) dat

31、e of expiry;e) manufacturers name or trademark;f) lot number, or other means of identifying the production lot from which the unit was taken;g) clear operating instructions in word or diagram form;h) if the power source is a lithium battery, the words LITHIUM BATTERY in block capitals, followed byDO

32、 NOT INCINERATE / DO NOT RECHARGE / DO NOT TAMPERNOTE Lights containing lithium or other batteries that have not undergone special testing for designation as “Non-Hazardous” may require additional special markings for transportation.4.3.2 Marking of date of expiry4.3.2.1 The date of expiry marked on

33、 the product shall be based on the service life demonstrated ordocumented by the manufacturer to obtain approval, and shall not exceed the date of expiry of the batteryinstalled in it. In the case of a light with a replaceable battery, the battery shall be marked with a date of expiry,and the unit m

34、arkings shall include space for a user to mark the date of expiry of the battery when installed.BS ISO 24408:200534.3.2.2 The date of expiry of a battery used in a position-indicating light shall not exceed of the servicelife of the battery. The service life of the battery shall be as established by

35、 the battery manufacturer, taking thefollowing losses into account at ambient temperature:a) testing, as recommended by the manufacturer or as required by the regulatory authority, whichever is themore stringent;b) self-discharge of the battery pack;c) standby loads, if any.4.4 DocumentationThe manu

36、facturer shall maintain complete product documentation, including as a minimum all prototype andproduction test reports and production drawings, for a minimum of ten years after each lot production.5 Performance5.1 GeneralRepresentative samples of production position-indicating lights and/or their c

37、omponents shall comply with therequirements of Clause 5 when tested according to the specified test procedures in Clause 6. Annex A containsguidelines for size and selection of samples.5.2 Lifejacket lights5.2.1 Watertightness integrityWhen tested in accordance with 6.1.1, each unit shall remain wat

38、ertight after being submerged under of fresh water for .5.2.2 Switch operation or pull-off forceWhen tested in accordance with 6.1.2, the force required to move a manual switch to the ON and OFF positions or in the case of seawater cell batteries, the pull-off force required to remove the buttons fr

39、om the case shall be within the tolerances established by the manufacturer.5.2.3 Operational life5.2.3.1 When tested in accordance with 6.1.3 in each of seawater at , seawater at , and freshwater at ambient temperature, all units shall illuminate within and reach the minimum required voltagewithin ,

40、 and the lights shall continue to produce sufficient voltage to produce a luminous intensity of greaterthan in all directions of the upper hemisphere for .5.2.3.2 The testing in fresh water at ambient temperature need not be carried out for dry-activated powersources where the contacts do not come i

43、ness integrityWhen tested in accordance with 6.2.1, each unit shall remain watertight after being submerged under of fresh water for .5.3.2 Switch operation or pull-off forceWhen tested in accordance with 6.2.2, the force required to move a manual switch to the ON and OFF positions or in the case of

44、 seawater cell batteries, the pull-off force required to remove the buttons from the case shall be within the tolerances established by the manufacturer.5.3.3 Operational life5.3.3.1 When tested in accordance with 6.2.3 at air temperatures of , , and ambienttemperature, all units shall illuminate wi
